log home help

I have a log home and deck to clean on top of the blue ridge mtn. It was bought by someone in southwest Fla. who wants it cleaned before they arrive in a few weeks. Other than having to take a riffle when I clean this place due to all the bear shit I saw around the house, it has no water at the house or anywhere close by due to a well dispute with the neighbor. I have my 100 gal tank but I dont want to use SH to clean it. Any Ideas on what is best to use? If you like to google map it for shits and giggles. Yellow jacket Maggie Valley, NC 28751

First, try to keep the profanity off the board.

Regarding the job and your circumstances,...I'd pass.

Sodium Percarbonate mixed with Sodium Hydroxide then neutralized with oxalic would most likely work. with that said,..100 gallons on a log home isn't gonna go far. If there's no way to have water onsite I think you'll be in over your head. Hire a water truck to sit there, I don't know. Charge enough.

Yeah I think I will have to head down the mtn a few times. Its only 4 miles to a place i can get water but it will take 20 min to drive that far. How much Sodium Percarbonate and Sodium Hydroxide would you mix in 100 gals of water?

No, I dont like passing on jobs. the way I figure it, on a job like this that is difficult I set a price that is worth it to me and if the customers passes due to cost being to much, then he passed on it, not me. I have hit a few home runs with this thinking.

I took some SH up there today and did a test spot . I spotted a tourist trout pond 1.5 miles from the house, I spoke with the owner and he said I could get some water there at no cost. that is a lot easier than the 4 mile trip. which helps a lot. Even though i will clean the whole house only 2 sides are that bad the other 2 are new looking and wont require much effort to clean. Then after the wash I will neutralize it

Joe im not sure how they even built this house up here cause a water truck wont make it with all these switch backs and even worst if the home owner ever had a medical condition it would take an hour for the ambulance to make it up there. Not so much the 1.5 miles on there crazy road but the distance they are from anywhere. closest place like wal-mart would even take an hour to get to. We get retired Florida couples up here that buy these crazy places and dont factor in the snow or other factors that make this place such an inconvenience that no locals would touch. But hey they got a great view

Is the house stained at all ? are they going to stain it after or is it going to be left alone?

if its just straight wood a S. Hydroxide mix of 2 ounces per gallon would clean that up nice. brighten with oxalic.

At 2 ounces per gallon get a 25 pound pale of hydroxide. 25 pounds oxalic and that should do it.

who knows how much water you are going to use,If the homeowners really wanted it cleaned ( and stained after of course ) then they would HAVE to pay one way or another. I would not pull my trailer loaded with water up a mountain. Luckily i have enough work lined up that i could pas on a job like that.
