I'm shopping around?

Depending on how it was said it sounds like they werent completely sold on your offer

However- there are some who just need to get another estimate no matter what- but i run into this more in contracting services and not Pressure Washing

The one thing i would make sure i convey to them is if they are shopping around for a cheaper price they probably will find it, I am not the cheapest guy out here but no one will do as good as job and take care of you like i will

There's also some "customers" who claim they're just shopping around for prices,....In reality they're not even considering having actual work done,..but they're seeing what the market holds for their new business in the World of exterior cleaning.

Jeff- I had a guy text me about a month ago something that went like this

him-"Hey- i have approx 600sqft of concrete flooring in a garage id like powerwashed- how much?

Me-"Hello-i need more information before i can even begin to give you an accurate estimate- 1st off where you located?"

him" im in Linden'

me-" ok..i really need to see the job for me to give you an accurate estimate-there are many factors such as the condition of the floor, etc..can i call you to set up a good time for me to stop by"

him" im real busy-just give me a ballpark number"

Me- " Listen- i understand your real busy, so am i, but i need to see what were talking about before i can give you a price, its fair to both you and me, i mean if you cant even take the time to give me 15 or so minutes to come out and look at the floor then im probably not the guy to do the job and you may want to call someone else"

That was last text- this was over like a day and 1/2

some here may not agree with my response-but i really don't have time to waste on people like this

I have no time for tire kickers

I hear ya' Mike,..I had a guy once ask me about a house, a deck, a camper, concrete, a fence and probably something I'm missing,Ha,Ha,..I told him I'd need to come to the property,..and he said he'd call back. He never did. Also, from the RCIA board,..the ugly shingle guy Bob,..called me and said he wanted to know how to clean his shingles as a home owner,..after a few minutes of discussion,.I had an inkling that he was fishing,..so I called him out on it,..what a goof ball he turned out to be anyhow.

How do you respond to customers who tell you at the end of a conversation that they will be shopping around? Please share

I try to bring up the following points

1. our customer reviews
2. satisfaction guarantee
3. insurance and license
4. local business

Don't sweat it. You are going to get them. I usually offer to come and view the job free of charge and when they continue to just ask for a ball park I kind of know they are tyre kickers and time wasters. I closed 95% of my on site quotes at the time of quoting and give the customer a booking date on the spot. Hate to quote clichés but there's plenty of fish in the ocean.

I hate hearing. I'll have to ask my wife. WTH

Agree 100 percent Andy thats crap i just look at them like they have no balls. They look around an say uh i will have to talk to the wife its nuts lol.

Okay, for me I encourage people to get other estimates. But I have learned that if I encourage customers to get other estimates they typically go ahead and offer me the job . A little reverse psychology.
