    Tile roof wash mix amount??

Hey guys I have a 4000 sqft tile roof Monday. How much solution would a average dirty roof that size require? Picked up 30 gallons of SH. Shooting it from the gutter

Depending on how dirty it is and if it is smooth or porous like concrete tile, you'll go through 100-150 gallons of 50/50 mix.

Straight from the source....you don't get better than that.
You'll probably need at least 45 gallons of 12%. If you're using a different strength SH the formula to figure how many gallons would be -
    find square ft.
Divide by how many sq ft you'll clean per gallon of MIX to find gallons of MIX needed.
Multiply by desired strength of final mix.
Divide by strength of SH you are using.
That total is how many gallons of SH is needed for the mix, the rest water.

Just curius as to how you priced the job if you do not know the amount of chemicals needed for the job. Great job on landing the work, but you may want to keep some notes with the before and after pics for future refrence.

Priced local rate plus .10 sqr ft. It will be a learning experience also. My biggest concern was not brining enough SH to complete the job. I'm going to start with a 5 gallon 40% mix of SH then adjust the tank accordingly. Notes and pictures- definitely will do. Happy 4th of July. enjoy Charleston the food is awesome. Thanks for the help guys.

Hey Doug, been slow, loosing a lot of bids and even those that are at rock bottom. Not going to make Charleston, working on another Wash Whith Us for August. Decided that it's time to get some new toys so I am getting new to me Yamaha wave runners , took my 4 year old out for the first time, darn ski just wasn't fast enough for her. I'll post some pics in a few weeks. Happy 4thto you and your family, and to all on Pwi.

What would be a typical dwell time for the Porous orange barrel tiles? An hour or 15 minutes? Not completely black with lichen but half/half

    Thanks in advance

Loosening bids left and right to the ones that will do it for less money. I got the bid on a job and 2 days later went there and it was done, When I called to find out about it nobody new about it and blamed it on the person that was on vacation. Found out it was done for 10.00$ less than my bid, wood around the home was ruined, white vinyl fence is now black, oil is still on the driveway. Lost a couple more due to price and when I looked at the job half the roof was done. Half of the house was done but not the a/c pad or pool equipment pad on the same side of the house that was washed.

It would be nice to go but am getting some new toys for the family instead. A laugh and a smile from my little girl always makes my day, along with wife. I can only wait till the customers learn that you get what you pay for and for the other cleaning company's put them selves out of work.

Thanks for the help guys. Took 120 gallons of mix at 40%. On another note my pump took a crap. PS-relay or fried pump who the heck knows. Is there a way to trouble shoot a FB pump PS and relay independently? It's not kicking on. First time pump oh no's. Didn't take long. Spare relays, PS and accumulator are being shipped. Bob at Pressure Tek is on his game. Fast fast fast fast.

I followed the PS test direct to the battery, nothing happened. Lori at PWP really was a big help today. I was going to make the drive up from Port Charlotte but she just said go to Grainger for spare parts and save time and money . She mentioned that Grainger sells a micro pressure switch for like $3.00 for the fb. So tomorrow morning I'm going to head there and pick a handful and a seleniod. Think I'm going to buy a northern tool 5.5gpm pump #2685561. $129.99. up also as a spare or incase I fried the fb. Hopefully I didn't fry it since it was really working nice. I was using a 0030 tip to cut the flow down near roof valleys without an accumulator. Here's the pressure switch from Grainger 24a303. Not sure if it's compatible with your pump thou.

oh ya i was stealing water from California hosing it down . I was really misting it and bouncing around alot preventing runoff. Landscaping out the A$$. Think my sh strength was off also. I made 2 different sh trips 30 gal Friday at the local pool store. Then 45 on Monday at the supply house. Only my ps blew on the Fat Boy. Did pick up a northstar 5.5 and it shoots nice with 40's. Another 5-7ft would be nice thou. Think that 5.5 pump will be for tile here on out. Should save on chems.

Air pumps are the ticket for reliability and definitely the ticket for tile and places without gutters. Ask Chris at Apple who does TONS of tile roofs. They also allow you to seriously cut back on your materials usage because you can throttle an air pump back to just mist without any harm (on electric, you'll blow relays and pressure switches if you short cycle the pump).

That's for sure Kasey! We find that old clay tiles are the thirstiest ones. Plus, you always need to tell the customer that old red clay tiles will "BLEED" after a cleaning. This is because the oxidizer chemical we all use (SH), removes the top layer of oxidized clay. But after 2 to 3 good rains, all this oxidized clay is history, and a beautiful tile roof remains for years.
