learning to be one with the customer.

I recently did a house wash in an upscale area. As i was walking around the house with the customer I was pointing out the dirty vinyl dormers that would need to be cleaned. So while i am walking around pointing UPWARDS at the dormers she is assuming I am pointing at the ROOF.

Guess what happens when i try to collect the check 5 days later? She says " my roof is not cleaned "

Here is what I learned ( which i already knew but failed to do " Always be on the same page with the customer.

Because it is my responsibility to set the customers expectations I took the blame and reduced the bill by $200.00 and i got paid. Now, If the customer allows me I will return to do the roof for free and explain the situation.

Lesson to newbies, Be on the same page and do not Assume anything.

Sorry to hear, these situations are a bummer that happen all day in South Florida.

I just got done doing a driveway sealer restoration, in which I bid the job to essentially keep busy (my first mistake).

Had everything in writing that since we are not stripping all the old peeling sealer off, there are no guarantees.

What I didn't get in writing is that tires may leave dirt after a car drives on it, THIS IS MY SECOND ONE this year I get blamed for it getting dirty..

First one I went back and cleaned said "dirt". This second one I contacted paint company to deal with x-client, who called me to say it wasn't right of what I did leaving them in the dark.
