My Next Move

AZ PowerWash Pros

New member
So I have been thinking for a while now about how to continue growth in my residential side of my company. As we have been growing our commercial side has taken over majority of the sales. But I love residential income for the cash flow aspect. Been thinking about investing in something like this:

I am thinking that I can get in with HOA's cleaning trash cans. Also, been thinking it would be an easy up sell for my current book of residential clients as well as a freebie to throw in with clients who spend the big bucks.

Let me know your guy's thoughts pros vs cons on this business model.... Love to hear them.

City of Mesa just had a trash can cleaning bid up. Only one company bid it. Not me. I knew what they were expecting to pay and decided I couldn't make money at their price.

Ty-
Weather its profitable or not- does it fit in with why your looking to do it - increased "cash flow"

To me HOA's are like doing commercial- all check, wait for money, etc

Maybe im missing something

Mike, you are right with HOA. It is net 15-45. But I am thinking that if I can get in with the HOA, while we are cleaning the trash cans the guys can go around and up sell the homeowners.
"Hi were with AZ PowerWash Pros we were hired by your HOA as the preferred vendor for maintaining your trash cans. While we are here we are offering 50% discount on driveway cleanings since we are already in your area."

Something like that. Plus we can send out mailers or hangers saying we will be here on this date cleaning your garbage can for the HOA and if you would like more services please call to schedule.

That is where I was going with it. Your right I should have mentioned that! haha

Ahh-Thanks for clarifying

I dont know much about Trash Bin cleaning as here in the east its non existant

However- if you can make a go of it and be PROFITABLE doing it the "extras" will fall in place

Good Luck!

Chris, Dan Swede builds those trash can lifts. Probably a great add-on if you can market it. I know my can smell like hell very fast. Some guys are running small pickup trucks for dual wheelie bins. a couple 4gpm pw. Or a 8gpm feeding 2 cans with fixed roto nozzles and a 4gpm for hand spraying. clean it- wipe it - deodorizer

Do you have the information of Dan Swede who builds the trash can lifts? I have been thinking about making it myself. Just like to compare prices etc... This is one of many reasons PWI is great!

Thanks!

Our company looked into this last year. As you know we work with many property managers. We spoke to about 25 of them last year just to see if we could add this service to there HOA fees before purchasing a few trucks. All 25 brought it up in their meetings and not one of them were interested. The price per can was so low we would have to wash the entire development each month. We passed for now.

Dan Swede

Dan is on the forum. He has trailer and truck units. The UK guys mostly use a small van and small trailer setup. You can probably get by with just a bin lift and hand wanding to save cash

Must be a South Jersey Thing!

I believe the local guy doing this was charging $8 a can. I guess to schedule this you would need to follow the garbage truck around. For awhile he was marketing this pretty heavily.
Then saw his rig up for sale.
Ty he might be a good guy to talk with and get the in's and out's.

Thanks for the help Chris! I may have to give him a call. After I get moved into this new building completely and take care of all the OSHA regulation stuff we are working on. Then I will start looking more into this.

The first thing you will need to do is make it a necessary service. Maybe you could hit the health and safety angle. Then you will need to build your market base. Until people feel it is necessary, or required, I think sales may be a little tough.

I'm not certain, u just took the rental barrels I had to a wash to clean. The city does a horrible job. My renters won't deal with it from last tenants. I had one a few weeks back the neighbor called cdc. Women putting baby diapers strait into the can.

I see hoa needing this !
