IKECA , What is it good for?

Lets hear some of the opinions on IKECA. Briefly please.
I look at them from a small business perspective. Membership fees, Fees for seminars, seminars mainly out west. I have to pay for transportation, lodging, meals and endure lost income by not being at my business. Seminars go over stuff I already know or will seldom use but nothing significant enough to warrant the cost. It looks to cater to the large companies that can afford to waste a lot of money. To me they are a corporation that has lost touch with the on the ground businesses, Call them and see. A hood cleaners test in MASS they came up with had several questions that do not have anything to do with cleaning. Hello. Do they even know what hood cleaning is? Not.

The main reason I am asking is because a local fire inspector here in MA is trying to require hood cleaners to pull a permit for every inspection and cleaning along with before and after picture. Pictures they dictate. Now they are seriously considering making IKECA membership mandatory for hood cleanings. All these costs will eventually be funneled down to the consumer. We just had to provide mandatory health care and accumulated sick days. Now this. Where will it end? So how much is an IKECA membership and what does it get you?

Holy crap and it is getting worse. The Fire inspector here is bringing it to the state legislature. Hoping to become a state then national policy. Permits, before and after pictures, specific pictures, mandatory membership in organizations that will be making lots of money. The costs of all this funneling down to the customer, us.What a country.
Check this out. They state several restaurant fires, especially the one in Boston, was caused by grease in the duct. Boston was caused by neglect and no one acting on the hood cleaners report that there were inaccessible area. Years and years. The fire started where? In the cooking area. Then it overpowered the filters, probably aluminum, got past the fire suppression system to the duct. What happened to the fire suppression system. Why didn't someone pull the manual trip? Why didn't they use the K class extinguisher? Perhaps they should be educated? Noooo its all the hood cleaners fault. We are being run over here and apathy between hood cleaners is very evident. Of course what will the be doing when it reaches their city, town, state? Where can we get some legal help, advice?
