Cleaning Off Cement Dust

I got a quote request to clean some newly fabricated steel structures. The yard these structures sit in is adjacent to a cement manufacturing plant so they are covered in cement dust.

The cement dust seems to have hardened over time and does not wipe off easily. The client said that the cement company told him vinegar would take it off.

We mainly do house washing so this is a new one to me. Definitely willing to learn though.

Any suggestions on this one?

Casey, I am not sure about the use of vinegar. I have customers that have tried it and it did not work for them. I recently cleaned a building that had 3 day old concrete splatter and the only thing that worked for me was muriatic acid. I suggest that you do a test spot or two, maybe your power washer itself may do the job on cement dust. Hopefully the vets on this forum will have more info for you.

I'd try just water to begin with. I cant see it being great drama. It is, as you say, dust. If you do need to use Some HCL,make it a very weak mix,D/S then hit it with a turbo nozzle. Bear in mind tho,if you miss a bit it will stand out like you know what.

NMD 80 from eaco chem will take it right off. Mix it 4-1 then x-Jet on. Wait 5 min. Wash off. Gone....

Cool, thanks for the replies guys! I think I will look into the Citra Bright and NMD 80 since I am not familiar with either of them. Sounds like one of them should do the trick. I was hoping to let the chemical do most of the work just like in house washing.
