So yesterday I had my helper take the battery from the charger and put it in the battery box. When I got to the jobsite I plugged the wires in how I am used to plugging it in out of habit without looking at which side was positive or negative. My helper put in backwards and I should of checked it. My question is even though I plugged it in backwards the pump still worked fine while being wired wrong and luckily it didn't fry the pump how did it still work?

If DC voltage is hooked up backwards, the motor spins backwards. Being as the pump is based on a pulsating diaphragm and flap valves to pump liquid, it didn't care. But hooking it up correctly in the future would definitely be a wise thing to do.

I agree. Thank you. I just couldn't understand why it didn't fry the pump and it still worked like that. Thank you for clarifying the reasoning for it.
