im buy used

Here are some hints for you Jeff,
Look in your local paper. There is a machine in there right now, for Around $6000
Another place to look is www.equipmenttraderonline.com
http://www.equipmenttraderonline.com/caddetail.html?/ad-cache/9/6/6/38452066.htm

There were a few in there from Texas, and a bunch that were a state or two away.

If nothing else, you need to be patient. Look in the paper and autotrader mag's and wait for the right machine.

You are wise to buy your first machine used. Odds are that you will be out of business inside of a year. If and WHen you sell that machine, you are much more likely to get the money you paid for the machine and keep your wife/significant other happy for not totally blowing the money.

Mos tof all keep looking, and find the major newspapers of the areas that you are willing to travel to and check them for machines for sale.

pretty inspiring

Hey Scott, That is pretty brutally honest about him not being in business next year, but probably accuarate. Statistically speaking, 80% of the people going into business this year will be done within five years. Then of the 20% that make it to five years - 80% of them will not make it five more years. That is according to the IRS dude who spoke at the PWNA - Pitsburgh this fall. Makes you think -"why bother - get me that 'McDonnalds' application" (ha, ha).

Great, extremly honest advise. Tim

P.S. I bet know one ever says to you "really, Scott, don't sugar coat it, tell me what you really think."

Well, my wife thinks that I am a little evasive sometimes, but on the good side, I NEVER have a doubt what she is thinking. HOnestly, I think that 80% is a little low. I would bet that more guys than that fail in this type of business, because so fewq have actual business skills.

I have to agree with Scott,

because theres alot of p/w out there that work for cash only and the IRS dont know about them.

YOUR OPINION IS WELCOMED AND APPREAECHATED

Jeff, for the right price and business being slow I am sure you would like to take a weeks drive to pick it up, if you get it at your price.

Or perhaps the seller will meet you half way, won't know if you don't ask.

Jon

There are two RK-21's from Delco. How is that for being confusing.
I have one of each. One was made by Tuff, and the other was made by Elite, who has since gone out of business.
I have one of each. I prefer the Elite machine. It seems to be more reliable than the other.

Scott

There are two ways. The first tis that the cover over the ignitor, on the opposite end of where the heat comes out is black on the Elite. Also the mounting bracket for the unloader, that big brass thing on the other end that has three hoses running to it, and the mounting bracket is Aluminum on the Tuff.
At least, that is the way it is on mine.
