Help With Pricing Structures

I have yet to do my first job, but I've already got one lined up. I really need to get figured out what and how I'm going to charge. I've seen different pricing structures from 10-25 cents per square foot, pricing range that goes in blocks of sq. footage (X amount for 1000-1499, then x amount for 1500-1999 sq. ft.), and so on. I don't want to give my services away to start and then raise them later on. Maybe setting a price and then offering a discount because I'm new to the business in the area. I'm sure demographics have a lot to do with it. I'm in a fairly rural community. Within 30 miles of any given direction, there's 8-9 small towns. Then that opens another can of worms...do I charge per mile extra outside of a certain radius? I'm sure there's lots of different angles to look at, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Call someone a few hours away from you. Call a few people.

Welcome Tim!

You need to figure the pricing part on your own... There's too many factors which go into it. First off, You need to decide how much you want to make per hr. You really need to do practice runs at your own place or a friends place using plain water to see how long does it take to apply solutions to how much sq. ft. and how much solution did you use...

As for radius, Once I travel more than 25 miles from my shop, A small surcharge is tacked onto the price of the job. It works for me however, It may not work for others...

As for chems, You need to figure how much sq. footage 1 gallon will do and then you can come up with a more accurate cost for chems...

Most of us seasoned pros had to figure this out on our own and are reluctant to just hand out the info... I've been in this business for 29yrs now and have never asked anyone how to price a job. What works for me, May not work for you. Nothing personal, It's just the way it goes!!!!

All the best,
Mike

I realize there are no "one size fits all". I do appreciate the tips. I guess I was just curious what others are doing or if there was any type of "mainstream" type structure. One thing I have going for me, the closest competitor is over 60 miles to the west and more than that in the other directions or so it seems. I'm sure once I get going, I'll have some fly-by-nighters pop up.

Shared Info

Tim,
I'm new and starting up too. I have done some research for my area that I'll gladly share with you. The info was found online mostly but I have links to where I got it. You will be able to reverse engineer your search for your area and get an idea. Shoot me an email and I'll send you a link to a shared folder on G Drive.

Best of luck, scratch that!

Bust your ass and you'll make it work!!

WE try and get $175 per hour on anything we do. Our equipment is very efficient so we work quick.
