Possible Insurance Claim

Not sure where to begin...I cleaned mold off the north side of a church using nothing more than just my jrod, so it was low pressure. There was some really old wiring and it shorted out pretty bad. Now three weeks later, I got a call from a guy that a couple of the board members want to know if I have insurance. Bottom line, they don't want to pay for the electrical repair/update. Mind you, it wasn't up to code in the first place and should have been done already and hindsight, I should have caught it. Can anyone tell me what, if anything, I should do next? Is it up to them to proceed or should I contact my insurance guy right away and explain the situation?

Best thing to do is contact your agent and explain the situation. Then your agent will advise you how to proceed from there. Best of luck to you and maybe add this into your invoice agreement ( fine print on the back) that states you are not responsible for a frayed or failing electrical wiring or bad seals around electrical equipment. This will somewhat cover you.

I will probably do just that. They already had the work done, so I wonder if they pursue the claim, my insurance company would probably have to rely on the word of the electrician.

Put it on your insurance. They have people that are paid to figure out liability. They are also good at explaining why it is not there problem. Just one of their many services.
