Zero pressure roof cleaning? Well now you can be sued if you use that term.

Today I got a message on my instagram account from True Clean, a roof cleaning company put of West Palm Beach. They stated that they have "zero pressure" federally trademarked and told me to remove all references of it from my photos or they will have lawyers serve paperwork.

I'm not going to comply, and I'll wait on the legal papers, but this is beyond ridiculous. They trademarked it in March of this year and I (and all of us) have been using "zero pressure" as a descriptive term for many years now. There is a good chance they can't defend their trademark in court since it is a generic and descriptive term, and if it really came down to it, someone could go further and have their trademark invalidated.

I'm just giving you guys a head's up and you may want to spread the word on social media. Enough negative attention and these patent trolls may just pull their heads out of their asses

Hell, I say we all start using the term! What are they going to do, Serve all of us papers???????? We could mess with their minds and start calling it "near zero pressure", or, "pressure lacking", etc... We could make the term "zero pressure" extinct if we put our minds to it....

All the best,
Mike

Fullwood you did get them what they really want which is free advertising and search ranking. And considering this is your first post here that may be the game.

this is all bs. the person with the company just wants to be able to say they "own" the term.
They cannot control something they didn't create. It's not the job of the government office to check the internet and see if it's valid. You might be able to sue them for making a false claim to ownership on the behalf of the government but you haven't been harmed so you will not have a judgement claim.
I"m getting old enough one of my goals in life is to have enough free time to walk down to the courthouse and start a suit against the person that sends me stuff like this.

HaHaHa only in the US of A.....The PWI should call their bluff and offer to counter sue for thief of a generic term in the industry. Everyone affected by this BS here on the PWI site should bring an action against them as individuals as well. That would make their butt pucker up.

Wash it. Everyone watches to much TV. It's a troll looking for attention. You don't get lawsuits like that here.

How exactly does "ZERO " pressure application of a roof chemical work. There's always gonna be some pressure,.albeit very minor. I'm obviously splitting hairs here,..but "LOW" pressure roof cleaning is a better term anyhow. Or even Damage Free,..or simply,..Roof Cleaning.

People aren't buying the terminology when they search a service,.they just want the service. Just like the use of "soft wash"over the last few years,..people on these boards are the only ones who are really into these terms.

Example: I remember a guy several years ago on one of these boards that thought he had a real selling point by having "8 GPM" in huge letters on the side of his rig,..potential customers have no idea what that even means or why it would be worthy of noting in advertising,..and frankly,..they don't care.

BINGO

Putting "hi capacity cleaning" or "highest capacity in town" would have been better, customers like big and best.

Thanks for the heads up. I better check on my phrase "driveway cornbread" I don't want to infringe on a nonsensical phrase.

I have only seen the phrase "zero pressure" when it comes to roof cleaning once. It was here in this thread. It doesn't even make sense.

Still wouldn't resonate with people,..those terms sound like boasting. And bigger doesn't mean the best. Many small outfits, like mine and many others,..tend pay more attention to detail,..and not into seeing how much they can get done in a short amount of time.

I agree I was just referring to the idea of putting 8GPM on the side of a truck. I don't think BS'ing works very well when it comes to sales.

Maybe if I was to put sticker on my truck saying "Using 10 Gallons of Water Per Minute" I would get a bunch of calls. Just not the kind I would really want though considering we are in a drought still here in Southern California.

I agree with what everyone is saying though, I would ignore it and see if you get papers on it.
