I feel that the reason there are soooo meny low balling PW people out there is because they just dont know any better.
I would like to start a on going thread about priceing and workmanship.
Please post a pic of something you washed and the price you charged.
I feel like Delco's price list needs to be updated and we can do a better job of it.
If anyone else has a better plan or way to set it up,im all ears.
Santa is bringing me a digi cam this year and i will post soon.
Some will be affraid of redicule by others or worried about the compition knowing your price.
If this is the case just give typical priceing for your work in your area.
I winter wash tri-axle dump trucks that work in sand pits and do blacktop.
I have to move them, raise the body, degrease the undercarriages and motors, drop the body, clean the truck and brighten the fuel tanks.
They are coated with sand every time it rains.
I get $40 per truck and they take 45 min to wash.
I am upping to $45 and should get $50.
4 to 10 trucks per site,no recovery,on site water,
once a week,every week[unless it's below 28 deg.]
Anyone else want to help out here?

This thread will help me a lot hopefully. I have been wondering how much people charge and if we're to low.

Our main job is a fleet at a feed mill. The Semi tractors we wash and brighten the tanks for $12.00. The Semi trailers are $17.00. We do the refrigerator units, grain trucks and all aluminum bulk trucks. We brighten the aluminum bulk trucks.

There is onsite water, we don't reclaim anything and we move the trucks to and from were they go. We plug them in after we're done also. There is no cutoff temperature for us. They want their trucks washed every week no matter what.

These are the prices we were given when we bought the business and I have been considering a small price increase.

At least leave an opinion of this post or by not leaving anything you HAVE responded?

this thread is a great idea, however at the moment I am unable to post pics and just to post prices seem kinda futile as it's been done so many time, but prices with pics would make a huge difference IMO.

If Santa brings me a digital camera (top of my list), I will contribute.

Maybe the Mods can put a sticky on this thread because it could get very interesting.

Hello Ron P,

I have some accounts that we are charging the same today (fleet accounts) that we did 10 or more years ago. I was told we were expensive back then and I'm told that today also! We can hold the cost to the customer because we have reduced our cost to do the work.

This is a picture of a fleet that wanted us to do their trailers on a regular basis. Once we got the trailers cleaned they canceled our service saying we were too expensive! $20 per unit. They had about 110 trailers.

Depending on how dirty they are the trailers can take anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours. We had some today that were taking and hour and a half. I took some pics today, but they didn't turn out very good.

I don't do fleets. The only thing I'm doing at this time of year is Commercial flat work where I am getting .04-.10 Sq'ft. It may sound kinda cheap but I am pretty fast at it and my set-up is well thought out where I can get it done with minimal time wasted.

I think this is a good thread but we all have to remember that there will be different prices for the same work in different parts of the country. For example I charge .12 cents per sqft to clean res. flat work, .25-.30 to clean and seal. I was talking to someone in my same state just at the southern most border and he got around .40 to clean and seal, I wouldn't get a job at that price. Also, I get on average 1.25 per sqft when I clean and seal a deck.
avg 400 sqft = $500.00, a few months ago someone replied to a thread and said he couldn't understand how anyone made any money charging so little, he said he got an average of 1100 - 1500 for the same size deck. So...pricing is relative, yet this will be a good thread.

This thread is a very good start, but rather than the emphasis on $$, list the time. List the time to set up for the job, the time per unit (truck, trailer, tractor, type of soil) and the time to clean-up after the job. Kind of equipment used, chemical and method of cleaning, reclaim water or not, who moves equipment, would be helpul also. $500.00 top clean a deck might be great if you could do it in an hour and the customer was satisfied. The same job at 20 hours is an entirely different story, no matter what the satisfaction level of the customer.

That may be a better idea, but, some people have different set ups, and more experience, hot machine vs cold machine so the amount of time for set up and job completion will also vary significantly. I guess the previous statement may be obvious to some but not all, maybe we should list both.

commercial flat work .06 sq ft
mi-t-m 3506 6 gpm Landa Water Jet
10 min set up time 10 min rollup time
$75-$150 hr depending on first clean or routine maintenance cleaning

Commercial Brick Cleaning .14 sq ft
$60-$100 hr.

custom homes $400 up to 3000 sq ft (non sandfaced) (4 hrs max)
$450 for sandfaced and all concrete (6 hours max)

Commercial brick cleaning? Is that new construction? For cleaning mortar smears I get .35 to .45 a sq. ft. I can clean about 250 sq. ft. per hour. According to yours @ .14 you can clean 428 to 714 sq. ft. per hour? I don't see how you could do it so fast. Unless they are not picky about getting it really clean. If you are just talking about cleaning dirt off brick that is different. Right now I am cleaning brick but they want it scrubbed with a brush. I am getting $1.05 a sq. ft. for doing it because of the conditions. I am only doing about 50 to 60 sq. ft. per hour because this stuff is so sloppy.

THIS IS WHY

WE NEED PICTURES!!!!!
Santa forgot me so as soon as i have the BIG GUY paid off i'll get the digi cam.

O come on Ron , charge it . Put it on the old credit card, lol.......

Once i owed over $8,000 on credit cards , your doing it right pay as you go.

I have an H/P C200 ,1 megs pixel, IT WILL only take 40 pictures max , i would like a new one myself.

hay Ron I went and did this Vent-A-Hood A few weeks ago ,I only charged $10.00 to do it , well all i did was put a sticker on it , this is how clean it was! It was for an pre-school, they dont fry any foods.
