Water line connection size.

I have a 3.5 gpm / 4000 psi pressure washer with a CAT 66DX Pump. I have a number of jobs coming up without a water supply nearby and need to connect a water supply tank. I am familiar with connecting directly to a water source and I haven't had to use a water tank until now.
The water tank will be sitting in the bed of a p/u truck and the pressure washer will be sitting on trailer behind the truck or on the ground no farther than 6 foot from the truck bed. I will be doing soft washing with low pressure rinsing.

What size of line should I use in relation to the total length of the line?
Will the line need to be clear so that air cavities can be seen in the line?
The pressure washer has a built in filter with a clear observation port...Do I need an additional filter between the tank and pump.

1/2 line is plenty big enough for 3.5 gpm. sounds like the tank will be above the machine. I think direct drive Cat pumps will pull from a tank, but they do not have good suction. could be tricky.
