High Pressure Gun

Does anyone have any "tricks" for keeping the trigger held down on a high pressure washing gun.. I use a tennis ball sometimes to hold it open on long rinses but have always wanted a better way. I use a long wand with 3000 psi for long periods of time and my hands get wasted sometimes from holding that trigger open..Would appreciate any ideas you guys have. Chuck

I saw one guy use a small key ring on his. He slid it up and down the gun to lock the trigger on. Also a loose Zip tie that slides up and down.
Also Spraying Systems makes a gun that uses a button to lock the gun off. With a simple modifycation you can make it lock on. The easyest way is to purchase a 5000 psi ball valve and an open gun to have total on off control.

Trick question.

I use ball valves, no problem, no sore arms and fingers.

Just be sure if you go this route that you buy ones rated 4500psi or more, the ones from Home Depot and Lowes are rated somewhere around 600 psi, won't last and your taking a chance with the pressure blowing them off.

If you go this way go to your local hydralic hose store, they either have them or can order them for you.

not a trick question????

Wiz I like the key ring idea and am gonna try it. I've never used ball valves before so i don't really know what they do. I presume you have to manually turn them on and off?? I use and control 2 soaps from the gun (on a vacume switch), so have to pull the trigger quite a bit. The long rinses is where I want the capability to keep the water coming without using my hand to pull that trigger... Also gonna look for that gun you talked about from Spraying Systems. Hope I explained this good & thanks for the help you guys. Chuck

Hi,everybody likes different methods.I use cable ties(plastic from the depot etc) I also like velcro I buy the long strips that self adhere and put the felt on one side grip on the other..snug them up on the smallest part of the gun/trigger and slide them up n down works great and removable.

Hey hope I got your name right don't have time to look back

Good Luck<< John Gull maintenance

Thanks John (Gull Maintenance)

John your twist tie and velcro ideas were simple and great..As usual I feel stupid, but appreciate your input alot. Will try it both ways and let you know how it went. thx again
Chuck:)

Spraying Systems makes a gun that can be easily modifyed to lock open or closed with the push of a button.

Wiz can you post a picture and price for this gun you speak of?

Booyaa ball valves do need to be opened and closed, some are easy and some not so easy, I have one 7000 psi rated and it is a pain to use, also costly. On the other hand the 5000 psi rated one the screw that holds the handle in keeps coming out.

$50 for the first one and $35 for the second so as you see about the same for some of the guns.

What I want to try is twist connectors instead of QC, anyone using those twist connectors and do they leak at all?

Trying to find a picture of the gun.

I use those spring clamps (or clips) you find at Home D. I recomend the more expensive($4) ones with the orage rubber tips, the cheaper ones tend to lose their tips leaving a sharp edge. They are fast and simple. Clips also work well for surface cleaner triggers. ;)

Ilike to use the short bungy ropes with the balls on them just wrap and it's like their not even there.

Interesting Ideas. I have been using a tennis ball (wish I had figured this out a year ago - I don't have a right hand anymore!) - feel is safer - i.e. will pop out if you drop the gun. I routinely PW at 4000 psi for an hour or more at a time - NONSTOP.
Jon, ran into same problem with 7400/5000 psi valves. I now only use 7400 when I lay on ground and plan to add hose without turning off machine. Normally place 5000 ahead of 1 foot hose and gun - try some thread lock, it helped me. Also have tried 5000 psi valves from several suppliers. Found one better than others for less than $30. Contact if you need info - bill3752@aol

This is the best I could do on the gun. It is $65 list Price.
