I was just wondering if any of you guys clean the dish washer hood while you are at a reastaurant or supermarket? I have to submit a bid for a big supermarket chain they have 6 hood and vents with fans., but 2 of the system are dish washing systems. I was wondering is it standard to clean the dishwashing hoods? I have to call them back to see if they want those cleaned but was just wondering.

Dominic, Yes we clean the dishwasher hoods once a year. Most of them will keep up with them but some will not, they think it is a waste of money. It is hard to chage there minds sometimes.

a point to remember, most dishmachine systems I have seen do not have liqued tight seams and connections.

I have noticed that also. That most were not water sealed. What would you recomend? I was thinking of two things One maybe send down a chimeny brush to push everything out. Second I thought what if I put on a low pressure tip and lightly wash everything down. These are some of my thoughts what would you do?

I tell accounts that the dishwasher should be cleaned at 720 days or when dirty. They can become quite dirty- if the hood is open-they will pull/draw from the kitchen. A clean system improves operation and general maint. upkeep. I charge around $75-$125.

We provide this service free of charge every six months to a year for our best accounts, and those that are loyal, and most who pay us on time, kind of as a customer appreaciation. New accounts are most likely charged between $75.00- $125.00. Sometime these hoods have a build up of mold and mildew, dust or chemical build up in the system. Most the time they don't take alot of effort or extra time. Just make sure to cover chemical dispencers and electronics found on some leased (Eco Lab) ect.. dish units.

Thanks for your input

I thank you all for eveything, and all your ideas you have given me on what to charge .

I could say that about most grease exhaust systems I have seen, they all leak somewhere.
