I cant get my downstream injector to work before my 300 ft reel.

I would like to set up my downstream injector on my rig attached to a 55 gal chem tank. However I can never seem to get it to pull chemical when I place it before my hose reel, I have 300 ft of hose, my machines are 8 gpm, my tips at the wand are regular 50 degree chem tips. I never use high pressure tips during my rinse. I am using 5-8 gal brass chemical injectors, like the one that comes with your new machine. Envirospec says I cant draw chemical with more than 150 ft of hose. I know there has to be a way, please help.

The ST-62 injector allows for water flow adjustment from the pressure pump. By adjusting the water flow through the ST-62, a restriction causes a vacuum which allows the detergent to be drawn through the hose barb when a large orifice nozzle is used. With the adjustment feature, the ST-62 can be used with a variety of water flows, replacing injectors with fixed orifices that are sized to specific flows.
INJECTOR RATIOS: Injector ratios are approximate. They vary with the lift required, downstream restrictions, viscosity, temperature, etc. To determine the exact siphon ratio for your application: (1). Operate the injection feature for one minute. (2). Measure how much detergent was used. (3). Subtract the amount of injected detergent from the total amount of liquid discharged. (4). Divide this number from the amount of injected detergent. EXAMPLE: If the total amount of liquid discharged equals 5 gallons, and the detergent injected equals 58 oz.(0.45 gal.), the exact ratio woild be determined as follows: 5.0 -0.45=4.55 divided by 0.45=10. The ratio is 10 parts water to 1 part detergent.




Technical Notes
Flow rate: Adjustable 2 to 8 GPM. Maximum pressure: 3600 PSI. Forged brass housing. Viton o-rings. Stainless Steel spring and ball. Inlet 3/8" FPT. Outlet: 3/8" FPT. 1/4" Hose barb. Repair Kit: Barens order #3470. MOUNTING AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS: (1). Connect the discharge port of the cleaner to the inlet port of the injector. (the arrow on the injector housing should point in the direction of the water flow). (2). Connect dwonstream components, such as discharge hose and gun, to outlet port. (3). Connect the detergent hose to the hose barb and secure. (4). Place the other end of the hose into the detergent. (5). Turn on the water. On the ST-62 also turn adjustment to maximum counter clock-wise. (6). To activate injector, employ the large orifice nozzle. The ST-62 will now need to be adjusted clockwise for detergent suction.

Sorry bro it wont work unless you have 150 ft or less of hose. anything above that and it wont work. unless you put it next to your gun.
 
funny, I pull chem all the time with my downstreamer, oh yeah, with 300 ft of hose. get an adams injector. mine is attached at the machine.

Thru the pump or after the pump. Because it doesnt work after the pump, and i cant see drawing chemical through the pump.
 
you should try rigging a 12 volt shur-flo pump between the chem tank and injector.
The water friction in 300 ft of line wont allow enuff pressure drop to allow most downstreamer's to work.
You might find a roller pump,pony motor,reel,line and gun with 100% chem mix to be the best way to fix this.
 
I have used my downstream injector with up to 250' and had it work. It does pull less chemical the longer the hose run. One day I went to use it and had no chemical draw, I replaced all the o rings in my hose connections and it worked again! Also works better not running it thru the hose reel? Hope this helps
 
Glenn has "supercharged " his downstreamer this way.
He said it work''s and give's him a higher concentration of chem.
I will assume he has a low psi and GPM shur-flo and that it only work's under low pressure.

I know what downstream is , but if someone says it works by itself then I would be interested to see how. If my flow is 1 to 5 at a 100 and at 150 is 1 to 1 then what the hell would it be after that . Yes some went through, but not enough to say it works. Replacing orings on your hose made it work again? what ?, I know if you run hot water through the injector , this happened only with the ones i used, it reduces the life of the injector. I made shurflow chemical sprayer with a recycling bypass to keep mixing the chemicals. 100% concentration. problem solved, with its own independent hose reel, 200 feet. 25 gal reserve tank with 2.3 gal per min rate. Is just that i gave up trying to get the injector to work, and i tried and tried.
 
In my experience, J.E. Adams injectors, and all their parts seeem to out perfomr the others. That may be why there is some draw at 300 feet of hose. I know that i have regularly had a very solid draw at 200 feet, but quite honestly, I have never had the need for 300 feet of hose, so I couldn't tell you about that length. The booster pump might work, because under pressure the check ball would be firmly seated by the pressure pump, and the pressure on the ball would be significantly reduced by the lower pressure of down streaming. Just make sure that you get a demand pump if you are going to try this.
