HD-80 Extreme Solutions

Beth

Beth, This is a deck I stripped Monday with the help of Johny from E. TN. We used a mix of Roof Magic and 2X to have a chemical in between. It was straight through the X-Jet for a dilution of 1.6:1. This deck had a semi transparent stain over a solid.

Just wanted to bring this post back up and tell everyone that testing was done at my house on my deck a month ago on the HD-80 and the RPC 113 Roof Magic. Their were five people present. Chuck from Cleaner Times, Tommy 123 from Memphis, Mike Deloach from Memphis, Steven Rowlett from Laverne and myself Morgan Paradise from Eads TN. The testing was done as followed the RPC -113 was mixed at 50/50 then X-Jetted on the deck and the HD-80 was mixed full strenth per their specs then mixed 50/50 and X-Jetted on the deck. Then everything was neutrilized with Oxcilic Acid. The testing was done in front of all people so that everyone would see that everything was apples to apples. I will attach a picture for all to see. The deck had Wolmans F&P that was 2 yrs old and both products kicked tail. I saw no difference in either products results. The reason I am bringing this thread back up is that I want to hear from others that have used both products and hear what their results were be them good, bad, or ugly. I bought the RPC-113 on the spot and finished the deck the next week. I applied the RPC-113 with my downstreamer at a ratio of around 10 to 1 and it melted the Wolmans right before my eyes. I would have X-Jetted it however I just got my X-Jet last week. I have tried it out and Im ready to throw the extension wand in the trash LOL. The left side in the picture is the RPC-113 and the right side is the HD-80 and the stairs were not touched so you can see what it looked like before. You will notice in the picture I am downstreaming the RPC-113 on. If you like powders then use the HD-80 and if you like Liquids use the RPC-113 I see no difference in either product except the Liquid form is a bit cheaper because it makes more gallons.

I see that in Steven's last post here he mentions applying straight thru the X-Jet for a 1.6:1 dilution. Just a heads up for all the folks using the close-up attachment (and I've posted this info on The Grime Scene BB): Check your draw rate using the "Close-up" attachment as it may be different than when using the X-Jet without it. The Close-up I received with mine had a result that diluted close to 2x times the open rate. In some cases, if your product worked well, it meant that your product may be diluted more than you thought; if it didn't work as well as you expected - you may now have the reason why it didn't work.

Morgan,
If you wash house siding, I would NOT yet throw away the extension wand. You can use it in conjuntion with the X-Jet for reaching some of the hard to reach areas. Check out my post with more details on "TheGrimeScene" BB under Flatwork & Buildings / Strip Mall (HELP).

Check out the size of the close range nozzle it should be a 4030, if not check with someone that sells them and get that size nozzle and it will take care of the problem. I recently had someone with the same problem and that corrected it.

Steven,

It is a size 4030 nozzle, and it came with the kit.

It's good to know that the 4030 should be what works.
My restrictor may be incorrect? I have to check my records to see what Ron put in there and give him a call.

Thanks!

I was referring to checking my records of the conversation with Ron on what we agreed to being shipped, then I will verify what is actually in the unit.

The curious thing is that my draw rate/ratio is exatly what it should be without the Close-up attachment at 1.6 GPM on a 4GPM unit. I've checked with and without at least 2 times on 2 different occasions (4 checks total).

Regards,

What puzzles me is why anyone would apply sodium hydroxide with an xjet in the first place.........close range nozzle or not! I have both, but I wouldn't even think to use them on a deck. I prefer to use a shurflo sprayer so I have more control over where the product is going, and MUCH less overspray (I imagine). Also, theres not question of the dillution rate, because there is no dillution with a sprayer.

Do you still use an xjet if there are alot of landscaping around? What about winds? Wouldn't this practice make an insurance agent cringe?

Morgan,

I think you're brightner is getting dilluted too much..........based on the appearance of that deck.

Mike I was using a mix of the Oxalic (sp bad I know) and Citrilic acid that Steven had left I forgot he told me it wouldnt be instant and would take a little time here is a close up of what it ended up as

Mike,
Regarding the application of caustics used to strip finishes from wood, we agree 100%. We apply either by pump-up or shurflow. Can't imagine setting yourself up for the sort of liability you would be by applying it downstream.

It definately dilute it and effects the reliability of the product.
Besides, the customers trust us to care for their property, and if we don't, you know they will protect themselves however they must.

Hey all,
We used HD-80 on a deck with Sikkens on it and it stripped it like a dream. The season may be winding down, but this stuff is worth trying next season.

Rod has dumped too much money into trying different things and spending too much time on a job in the past, and this product really works. Has one heck of an attitude.

Yeah, we were both skeptical at first, but no more....

Beth & Rod

:)

Anyone still Using HD80???????
