If You Love It So Much Where is The Picture Of It? [tie]

I have a 24" whir-a-way that is 6 yrs old and I had to replace the casters and the spinnig bar on it once or twice. I also warped the yellow cover slightly when I inadvertantly ran hot water thru it. I also have the big guy 30" surface cleaner which I bought from Delco 2 yrs ago which of course takes hot water. I love this one.

In the future I may purchase the 24" surface cleaner from whisper wash. The thing I don't like about the Landa one is the big black cone shape part that has the adjustable mechanism in it. That part would get in the way when I go under benches etc.

My favorite PW that I have is the Landa pghw which I think is just about the best youm can buy in the industry. I also own Mi-t-m pw, Simpson PW, northern pw and a Landa pw that has a blown engine which I bought like this and plan on restoring it over the winter.

I have been using the Landa Water jet and have hade no problems. I like the fact that you can run hot water in it without causing a part failure.
Some time back I did a Indust. floor that had caked on grime about thirty years worth. I ran chems & hot water threw it for about 2o hrs. and never a problem.
I have Ron to thank for his imput on my decission going with the Landa.

Here is a picture of you.

landa surface cleaner AKA water jet. Most guys will tell you they have a piece of equipment and they stand behind it. How far back I don’t know. I can tell you from personal experiences that the water jet is the best I have seen on the market today. Light years ahead of its competitors.

Top Eleven Reason I Use a Water jet

1. The handle does not fall to the ground. This is a public liability and workers compensation nightmare.
2. The body is plastic and very inexpensive to replace, not like the aluminum and metal ones. Believe me they wear out.
3. There is a wand on these machines to do small detailing. [[[[huge time saver]]]]]]
4. They have a separate gun valve control for safety. Please tell me if any other machines have this feature.
5. The hose is on a swivel so it does not get in your way.
6. Twenty-four inches wide. Can fit in small places such as kitchens and trash bin areas with out being to clumsy.
7. Designed properly for the amount of water and pressure combination. Surface cleaners that are larger require more machines and most guys don’t have it. Standard operating equipment 3500 at 6 gal needs larger equipment if you’re going to run larger surface cleaners and reach the same cleaning units. As they say bigger is always not better. Larger surface cleaners at 3500 6 gals. Will only move slower, sure they cover more area {{{slower}}}. That’s the key word {slower}.
8. Light weight
9. They have and adjustable swivels so you adjust how close you need to clean.
10. They move forward and backwards, lift up on the handle and they move lateral.
11. You can use one hand to control this surface cleaner.
This equipment here is so old I can’t remember how old it is. It has the original stainless steel handle. It is now sold with a powder coated steel handle {they don’t hold up as well} the handle replacement is only $27.00 dollars. The unit retails for about 1595.00 you can negotiate down to 1000.00. The dealer cost is about 865.00. Yes more than most even double the cost, You will not be disappointed. I have owned many of the other brands and I don’t have a single one left. I think if you have never used a water jet rent one and you will surely buy one. I posted this not because I’m a rep for landa but because I have a strong belief in this piece of equipment and I don’t want to see other guys make the mistakes I made going with cheaper brands. The rookies out there don’t know nor have a strong conviction and sometimes are clouded buy the price. Someone tells them they need the biggest they can get. The next week a restaurant calls to clean the restroom, opps the monster won’t fit in there. Now you have spent all There capital on hose reels, guns, lances, trailer ect. Now they turn down their first job because they have a surface cleaner that’s to large to go anywhere and even when they run it in open spaces there equipment cant push it because that 6 gal a min 3500psi machine doesn’t push it well. When the standard machine becomes 4500 at 8 gals a min I will buy one. Yes I know there are some of you who have these machines that’s great. Remember I said standard popular not custom. All major manufactures won’t go over 4000psi for liability reasons. We all know why they run six gallons a min. {couldn’t get water out of a 5/8 line} some of you guys enjoy the info, some of you can disagree.

I love it

I love my jet wash. It is great. I love the gun on the side. You said it best Ron that is a huge time saver. Thats what we w have been talking about in the pressure washing forum. At any rate I think you can not go wrong with buying Landa. You pay more , but you get the very best.

I love my Landa Water Jet. I also agree with everything said. A few small wishes however, the factory hose on the wand could be a little longer. The front swiveling caster could be greasable and perhaps better sealed to keep grime out of bearings. And the tires should have tubes to keep air in them, Debris gets on the inner lip of rim letting them leak air, However I find it works just as well running them on flats. I have put over 200 hours on it using hot water and chemicals, mostly in Industrial settings with no problems. keep the spinner swivel greased and replace nozzels as needed. I do carry spare spinner tubes and elbows because we have broke them by hitting unseen bolts and objects that protrude just high enough to hit the rotating spinner bar.

My cleaner

since everyone is showing their love for their surface cleaners I thought it only fair to show my love for mine. While this is not my idea of a well thought out machine I have found after reading the above some are surprised at running hot water. I must be dumb because as soon as I plug my eagle in, I set the temp to 180 degrees. When cleaning drive through's it goes to 200 and sometimes more.... Its been running over a year (origanal everything) LUCKY I guess. Maybee thats why I get so many drive bys by the police. Looks like the buildings on fire. lol.

Walter,

Nice Steel Eagle, looks like you put the gun for a
telescoping BE wand on the handle heh? Good Idea!

Most of the Steel Eagle surface cleaners we sell have the
lawnmower / U style handle on. It can be ordered either way
same price.

Here is a picture:

I lied

I guess it's not original because the handle is from a teliscopic wand. I did'nt know about the lawnmower handle. they don't show that in their brochure. would like to see a picture of that.

30 inch

what about the 30 inch machine. does it come with the same handle? Show me a pic please,if it does.

They say you can't beat a dead horse, well I agree!

My Big Guy is dying rather fast on me, was just fine two weeks ago, went to replace spinner bar and it will not budge, then I noticed the base is splitting off from the top, no point in welding it, last week had the handle break and welded it back.

There comes a time when repairs cost as much as replacement.

I do love the Whisper Wash Big Guy but feel it time to try another brand.

Now the problem, I set limits on how much I would spend for something like a surface cleaner. Most sell for around $700 to $895.

If Landa makes a 28" or 30" one for that price I would consider it, but would not pay for one the cost of two.

Also Steel Eagle makes a 24" stationary and one adjustable.

So do tell if Steel Eagle and Landa both make adjustable surface cleaners why would they not be fairly equal?

I do like the Big Guy inline gun, I don't like single handle as I work fast and would not buy if I cannot try, something truly lacking in our industry, demo's to test or rent.

Anyone close to me willing to let me sample theirs?

I need to order in the next day or two, must have by Jan 8th 2003!

Jon

Steel Eagle

The Steel Eagle 24" and 30" Surface Cleaners are available with the U Handle (lawnmower style) or the single straight handle.

I prefer the U-Handle myself.

You must specify which style handle when ordering.:D

It is also available with 2 different style swivels, a brass swivel which works fine, and the Deublin swivel which costs more, but is considered by many to be the best swivel made!
