waterwash system parts (Seco)

Anyone know where I can find some replacement parts for a Seco water wash system?

The system is about 10 years old and I was told by the General Manager to "get the plastic spoon out of there and replace that part so the system will work."

I am having some problems finding what I need.

Just incase you think I was joking about the plasic spoon..... I wasn't. :D

Is it the relay itself you need? Or do you need what controls it? Never heard of a Seco, but that doesn't mean I can't find a part.

Yes, the relay for sure. Maybe a couple of other small parts also. I was hoping to get a schematic of the panel but it looks like that will not happen.

The unit has been OOS (out of service) for about 2 years. The Chef said it worked fine but something ? happened and the Engineer stuck the spoon in it and capped off one of the water tubes. After that, they never used it.

After I reply, I will upload a pic that shows the water pipe that was capped off.... as well as the electrical that was undone and taped.

I should have looked at the unit a bit more, but that unit was not the main reason for my visit. I'll be back there tomorrow afternoon and get a better look at what all has been monkied with.

Here is a pic pointing to what I noticed

Looks like a don't-know-it-all tried to fix it and gave up. Are you a service tech? Or is this something you're trying to do as a favor for someone? You'll need to devise a troubleshooting sequence to determine where the problem with the system lies before you can tell what parts need to be replaced. Good luck with it, and I'm here to help all I can.

BTW, the powers that be on this board have requested proper name and contact info in your signature area. Please get it filled in so I know to whom I am talking. Thanks.

Grizzley, I need more information and a better picture. Can you make that photo about twice as large?

But first, post your location, business name.

Grizzley, Russ and Douglas are right, we need you to update your signature to include your name, company name and a phone number.
People are more likely to help you if they know who you are.
Thanks

...umm... OK? A bit odd... but I suppose I can do that.

It is easier to become friends with someone when you know who they are...
Thanks Sean

After adding to my signature the other day the replies stopped. :D

Hey Douglas, can you help Sean out with this one?

We have parts for Gaylord Wash Water Systems and alot of the Gaylord parts interchange with SECO and Gaylord carries alot of the old SECO parts because SECO is out of business.

How can I contact you (if you don't mind).

Do you have books / schematics for these systems? The best I have found this far is the drawing submitted for the patent.

In my 15 years of servicing restaurant hood sytems I have never seen a wash water hood system that is worth its weight in grease.

Problems I see with wash water systems----->

The nozzles only clean in a set direction, the rest of the area is not reached by the nozzzle becomes contaminated

Once the chemical resevoir runs out it is rarely if ever refilled on a reasonable basis. Then you have nothing but water pushing grease and contaminents around inside the hood over the cooking area.

All the contaminents that are removed by the nozzles end up laying in the bottom of the track. Wich in turn accumulates and creates bacteria.

The drains are usually plugged at one location or another be it at the beginning of the track or somewhere in the pipe along the drain system.

They break down and do not get repaired.

I have heard many times. We have a wash water hood system ,We do not require a hood cleaning service. Then I proceed to show them what the interior of the hood looks like. I get alot of EWWW Yuck thats nasty.
Then I proceed to explain to them how it only cleans the area in front of the nozzles and not the Filters the Plenum the Duct of the Fan.

In fact those with wash water hoods need to be in contract with a experienced hood service as to avoid bacteria build up and a serious fire hazard.

So- in conclusion, Explain the down falls of the system and sign them up for a regular service. It would be benficial to there environment and your business.

In my opinion the wash water hood sytems should be replaced with a regular Type 1 Hood with out any wash water system.

Oh and get the part, not that its going to actually clean the hood but if they want to pay you to fix something thats obsolete then have at it.
Just my 2 cents. Cheers GOAT.

That is the case indeed.

This is a national Hotel chain. The head Chef said it needs fixing so it's getting fixing, no matter what.

They have cleanings every 3 months. They have 4 fixed supression tanks, all but one have been upgraded to the new codes. The last one will be upgraded in 2006. They don't mind tossing money at people. I know this because of what they pay for a cleaning :)
