What is the future of our industry?

I thought that it would be interesting to see what you feel is the future of our industry? Things that you might want to consider are:
    1. How will the equipment change in the next ten years?
    2. What kind of regulatory requirements will we need to deal with?
    3. Will the current popularity of the industry change and do you think that it will be a harder industry to break into?
    4. Do you think that the industry could start to be more dominated by large players, or will the owner operaotrs continue to be the bulk of the contractors?
    5. Will revenues change, or will the pricing stay similar due to competition?

I believe pricing has come up due to customer awareness and education of contractor and customers.

I have to agree with Ron, pricing is going up but, at the same time I'm noticing more guy's POP into the industry and lowball themselves into oblivion. They get plenty of work but then they have to hire help, then they have to pay taxes or something get's destroyed... Then they are gone again and the people hiring these cheap guys will never want to hire a power washer again. ( In some cases)

So, they decide to do it themselves with an HD unit. Then their problems really begin and they beg you to fix the problem. Of course most will not admit they were the ones at fault.

My area is a bit different from most... The majority of the people around here are really intelligent, they work hard, make excellent money and don't want to be a DIY'er. That's what makes this area perfect for a power washing company.

On the other hand, we do have our share of cheap people or people who are convinced that anyone can restore a deck. It's a toss up really and there must be a way to get the best of both worlds... When someone figures it out, share it with the rest of us!

Okay, so you feel pricing is going to go up. What about the rest, what kind of changes in equipment do you want to see? What other things do you think the future holds for you?

I would like to see machines getting smaller with less moving parts. I doubt it will happen but I'd much rather mount a rig inside a cargo van than a box truck. Trailers are a nightmare if you have employees!
