Fleet Washing Pricing

I had a call to do some fleet washing for a local trucking company. They run about 20 trucks. I found some pricing online but it seems really high to me, but maybe not. What is the going rate for a basic wash on a day cab rig with 52' trailer? Denver is a major hub for trucking so I am sure the other powerwashing companies out here charge a pretty penny and we only have 2 truck washes in town.

The ole' how much do I charge question.
Seriously fleet pricing is so variant upon, speed to get them done, quality of job, position of trucks, water source, competition in your area, your own overhead, reclaiming, disposing of that reclaimed water its endless. I could tell you what I charge but it would mean sqaut to you because demographics and the above are all so differant.
Tell ya what, go wash a few for a demo wash and see how long it takes to wash a few and try to get a feel for it. Figure how much you need to earn then how much you want to earn then add them up and whamooo thats yur price.

Thats funny Russ over here on some of my accounts I get a little more for the tractors and a little less for the vans.

And we get $10 for a day cab, and $15 for a trailer. Of course, I have to deal with Fleetwash all day, too.

We do have some bigger accounts that we have to drop our prices around Scotts but not to many.
(We have taken over 4 Fleetwash accounts this year due to their superior service)

To myself it looks so hard to make any money p.w. rigs...

I would hate to be off a few dollars, cause at 20 not so bad but 100 would kill you...

Nicole, Fleet washing makes money by speed and or bulk. The fewer the trucks the higher the price AND find out what the owner wants. Some want a quick wash and others want an almost detailed truck that is a big differance in time. Once you see how they are to wash then figure how to work a two man crew to get-er-done. If as you say there is plenty of other work that goes through the winter then mabe truck washing is not needed or make up a rig for washing onley and hire a crew. A good crew can get at least 4 tractors/trailers an hour up to 8 - 10 depending on how they sit or moved. I have been in your town about 14 years ago to visit some relitives, stayed a week, it is a nice town with great people - hope that didn't change.

This is off the subject, But for sake of argument, If there is so much work, Which I dont really disagree with, But why is there so many companies that start p.w. but end up going out of business in a year or two?

What is the one biggest reason for the failure in this business?

I am going to throw my hat in the ring and say, Lack of really wanting to work as hard as you have to, to make it work...
Another one is DETAILS....

Laziness and thinking this is an easy money industry.
Very appealing because of low start up costs compared to other bizs.
Lack of quality work
Lack of doing research and gaining knowledge before opening
Just to name a few.....

Russ- Thats about what I heard out here for pricing.

$15 Day Cab
$20 Sleeper Unit
$15 Pup 24'
$25 48' - 52'

That is about the going rate around here for mid to large size fleets. The traliers are closer to $20 though. You can make a good living doing fleets, I have. Yes they are a pain because you don't always get to work in the best conditions and they have to be done on that regular schedule, consistency keeps the job. The one upside that I can say is once you have the job if you are consistant and do a good job, and show up it is very difficult to loose it. Plus you dont have to keep selliing constantly, it is just $200 a week here and $300 a weeek there. That being said I do prefer flatwork and buildings.

fleets

Hi all, my first post. Glad to find this website. I have never done any kind of work other than fleet washing so it is my specialty. I wash 230 pickups monthly, and two trucking companies twice per month. One has 20 tractors 20 trailers, and 3 box trucks. The other company has 5 box trucks, 5 cabs, and 1 trailer. I charge 15 per trailer, 8 per cab, 10 per pickup ( a lot of driving). I wish like heck I could find ways to do other kinds of pressure washing services but have no idea as to how much to charge.
