biodiesel

Looks like a winner to me! there is Bio-diesel available at a local southern states near me for 1.44 a gallon I am curious if anyone has used it yet in a burner. This thing looks like it would be right up our alley. We could drain the frier filter it add the ingedients and pump it right to the burner on the pressure washer or in to the tank of the truck. They would get rid of their waste, a hood cleaning and we get a fill up

You dont need that waste of money diesel secret.
It is very simple to run your truck off veg-oil I dont know about burners though. I am sure bio-diesel wouldnt be a problem in them.
Alexy Bio for $1.44 is a bargain man if you got a diesel run that stuff!!!

Richard, please inform us on how easy it is to run it in our trucks.

Mattia,
If you live in area that never gets to cold like So Cal or Phoenix you can put straight good veg oil in your regular tank and run it like normal. You can get used oil and filter it down to 2microns and separate the water from it and add it to your tank as well, thats called a sigle tank system.
Then you have a dual tank system which there are complete kits for sale or you can piece together a kit yourself. Basically you have your regualar tank and a veg tank, then you have switches to switch so you can run on veg when your motors and oil are hot enough and to switch back to diesel and clear out the injector rails when you shut er down. In line and in the veg tank you put heaters either electric 12volt heaters or use your engines coolant line to keep the veg oil viscous enough to run through your fuel pump and to the hot engine.
See pretty simple huh. Thats if I made sense=)

Thanks Anthony after I typed it and read it I was CONFUSED but I am glad you got it.
I am looking for bulk fresh corn oil to buy by the 500gal down here. I dont have the time to collect and filter my own waste oil. But once I find a good bulk source of oil I am saying good bye to padding the rag heads pockets, once and for all.

There is also a write up in trucks or a video on trucks. I am not sure what site it was though.

I do it. Here is what I do. I collect used Veggie oil. I make sure they arent using hydrogenated, It has a tendency to gell.

I blend cleaned veggie oil with diesel 50/50 and as high as 65/35.

I collect the oil in 30 gal. drums, they are easier to handle by yourself than 55gal.
I transfer it into a heater tank, heat it to 140 deg. Let it set for 24 - 48 hrs.
Drain it into a filter tank. I have 2 drains in the heater tank, one 6" off the bottom fot the oil and one on the bottom for the sludge.
After it goes to the filter tank, I push it thru a 2 -5 micron filter with an electric pump in to clean 15 gal jugs.
At this time I add 6 oz of Cetane booster. This brings the cetane up to prevent excess smoke. 6 oz of cetane will treat a whole tank. I also add 4 oz of staybil to help drop out any excess water in the oil. Let this all sit another 24 + hr.
When Im down to 1/8 tank I add 15 gal of oil and top off with diesel.

This is a whole lot easier than making Bio or the Diesel Secrets formula. And this works good, same power and performance and same fuel mileage. Just smells good. I started this back in oct of 05 so it has been almost 1 year and about 25k miles. The only drayback is it tends to clog fuel filters quickly. The high acid in the oil cleans the varnish or parafin out of the fuel system. I by filters off of ebay at 11.00 ea vs 28.00 from autoparts store.

Last thanksgiving We went to Cloudcroft NM and I took 45 gal of oil with me and blended it at each fillup. I averaged 18mpg going and got 21mpg coming back. I got down to 8 deg and I was a little worried but it ran okay.

FYI , Diesel Secrets used a blend of 80% oil, 15% diesel, 5% RUG( reg unleaded gas) . I elimenated the gas from my mix because gas in a diesel engine causes coking, which isnt good for diesel engines. If you want to read about it further do a google search.

I run a 2000 F250 4X4 CC 7.3L Powerstroke. Air Raid Cold air intake, 4" turbo back exhaust, no cat, Micro Chip Programmer, Pilar gauges( pyro, boost, tranny temp).
Just for grins I went to the Drag races one night this summer and my best time was a 16.7. Not too bad for a 7400# sled. It was fun but smoked my tires too much and got yelled at for tearing up the track, switched to 4X4 so it wouldnt spin so much. And I was running veggie oil blend.

My biggest problem is, It gets freakin cold here! But I know that some people are using it here with a heater built in to the car to heat the oil to about 140 and flipping the toggle.

Michael do you have pics.

biodiesel / SVO

Matt , Dont have any pics yet. But that is something I need to put together. Im gathering the necessary parts to do a SVO setup. I have the tank and some other parts and will set it up soon. SVO used two tanks, your regular diesel tank to start/stop, warmup/purg. And a second tank for the oil. It has a heater which runs off the radiator system with a heated fuel line. In simple terms. Start your engine on diesel, bring up to operating temp, switch to oil. The Oil has to be heated to make it viscious, thus the heated lines to keep it that way. And when you shut down, purge back to diesel to start all over again. Not too complicated, but takes a little bit of engineering and work. Once it is setup you have the option for duel fuel.

On another note, making bio isnt all that hard. Being in this industry we have access to the chemicals needed. Sodium Hydroxate ( caustic ). And we are familial with the safety issues of working with it.

Ill put together some photos.

i'am too starting to make bio diesel in south florida. im making my own system to make the stuff. its not a hard process to do it just takes time. i should have the system running bye next month.

If you look down at the bootom of the page...looks like McMoo's Crew had something to do with this.....

Bottom of what page, McMoo sounds like some one on a board, Is it this one.

I just cleaned a Micky dees last night/ this AM and the company that was collecting the oil sends it right up to Balt MD where they turn it into diesel for use at a Baltimore Power plant that is located at the Port of Baltimore. Apparently they mix it a right there and pop it right into the burners.
