good protein shake

Gents:

...Been messing around w/ different protein shake recipes, thought I'd pass on my findings. Basing my choices on simplicity, TASTE, nut. value, and cost.

Right now, I've just been getting some cheap WheyProtein from Walmart--the EAS vanilla. 20-25g per scoop. Here is my favorite shake recipe(s):

12 oz. cold water
2+ Scoops of Protein (min. of 50g)
1 banana
1 cup of fat free yogurt (80 cal, 10g protein)
1 cup of FROZEN berries

--This makes about 28oz, or one large cup full. Tastes really good. A good way to get in some extra fruit you might not otherwise get. To alter the taste, the biggest thing you can do is eliminate the banana--it kinda dominates the taste. If you want more of "berry" flavor, use more berries, no banana. Gotta use frozen berries--will thicken it up and make it cold. I've actually read that frozen veggies/fruit are the closest thing to being as good for you as raw. I use the yogurt for the heck of it--kinda "creams" the shake up a little. And less calories than if you substitute milk for water.

--Another variation (depending on caloric needs/how many you want to get) is to substitute orange juice for the water. And then fruit as desired.

--Another good one is:
12oz. milk
50+g. of Protein
Peach Yogurt
2C of frozen peaches

A million variations.

Just thought I'd pass along---I'm sitting here drinking a post-workout shake and figured I'd give some recipes for the protein drinkers.
 
If anyone has any shakes they make that use VEGGIES, please pass along. I haven't found any veggie drinks/shakes yet I've been able to consume----and I can palate just about anything. So if you guys have a veggie blend you make that doesn't make you gag, I'd love to hear it.
 
Jon - I drink the EAS shakes usually the double chocolate or french vanilla. The strawberry litteraly makes me sick. I did the body for life diet before I had my daughter and had good results, I need to do it again...:D
 
Here is a mixture I have used myself when I was actually going to the gym. This shake actually taste pretty good. I used to drink it after every workout.
1 to 2 cups milk
1 carnation instant breakfast mix. (look at what is in one of these)
1 banana
3 large scoops of peanut butter (minus the e-coli and what ever else they are contaminating our nuts with these days)
blend up and enjoy!!!!!

Will have to try that one someday Richard, I like the fact that I dont have break out the blender with the powder, I just scoop and stir, have you seen the content of Source of Life energy shake, it even has down to enzymes.

It has been about 2 yrs since Ihave been in the gym......so I have not been up on any of the shakes that are out now....just remember the one I posted cause it is actually good....
