looking for a little help on what to use on cement trucks? our local concrete plant has about 16 units and are willing to let me have one to try! looked on the net to many choices need something tried and true any help appreciated steve

Muriatic acid cleans the lime film and the trucks extremely well and is what most use for that purpose. However, don't let the acid get on the aluminum or chrome.

thanx

thanx for the quick response! just wondering if i spray undiluted? and what about dwell time(there letting me try on a old truck that doesnt leave the yard so i can practice!!!!!!) thanx again steve

Muriatic doesnt spray well, if you atomize it you cant breath!
bucket and brush the business end of the truck undiluted and hose it off. Dilute 50/50 for the cab and brush it also, hose to rinse. If they have chrome wheels, exhaust stack, battery box covers etc. get them wet with water only first, just in case you drip acid on them.

It will clear your sinuses, right before you hit the floor!

cement truck

thanx again for the info! gonna try this weekend! (when nobodys at the plant) even thinking of going to the local junk yard and practice with a few diffrent cocktail recipies on some recked rigs! thanx again steve

Actually - that would be your best bet...get some practice in first and never "practice" at your customers. Always make sure you know exactly what you are working with before you go out. You dont want to end the day with an insurance claim!

insurance

insurance is a must ,last year we were unthawing 200 ft of sewer line in -40! a week later client filed against us in court saying we left tee cap of flooding her trailer crawl space(storage) just imagine that mess! iknow for a fact i didnt cuz i was laying in a river of poop in my rubber siut trying to get cap on inthe dark ( blew light buib and flashlight was dead) well it turns out it froze again and trailerpark owner was in there trying to onthaw line with hose and funnel!!! and didnt tell anyone! if it wasnt for the neighbour telling me this i would have lost!!15,000. 1000 ayear is a small price to pay for peace of mind buy the way we do lots of frozen line and septic feild cleaning smelly work! but a gold mine ! food for thougt ???never be late with insurance payment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanx steve

Steve,
I agree with what has been posted. How did it go?

We did a fairly large fleet of cement trucks a few years back. The only thing that worked at getting off the cement was muratic and a zero degree rotating nozzle. We blasted the equipment with as much pressure and gpm as a guy could handle for a 8 to 10 hour shift. The blasting was mostly on the back and drum of the truck.

You really need to know how to handle this stuff before you try to handle it.
Below is a paragraph I pasted from wikpedia.

hydrochloric/muriatic acid are the same thing marketed under different names.

"Chemical weapons

Phosgene (COCl2) was a common chemical warfare agent used in World War I. The main effect of phosgene results from the dissolution of the gas in the mucous membranes deep in the lung, where it is converted by hydrolysis into carbonic acid and the corrosive hydrochloric acid. The latter disrupts the alveolar-capillary membranes so that the lung becomes filled with fluid (pulmonary edema).

Hydrochloric acid is also partly responsible for the harmful or blistering effects of mustard gas. In the presence of water, such as on the moist surface of the eyes or lungs, mustard gas breaks down forming hydrochloric acid."

Do not stand down wind when applying!
Cover yourself up as much as possible.
