I WAS WORKING ON THE MACHINE AND WAS TURNING ON AND OFF THE WATER SO I GOT CONFUSED AND THOUGHT THE WATER WAS ON. NOPE IT WASNT RAN AND HIT THE OFF SWITCH IN ABOUT 5 SECONDS. IT SUCKED ALL THE AIR FROM THE HOSE. EVERYTHING IS FINE AND IVE DONE IT BEFORE AND IT PROB WONT BE THE LAST . LOL

I do it all the time, but I also usually have 300 gallons of water in my tank too. I imagine you are referring to a machine that has a small 4-10 gallon float tank. I didn't use one of them that much. Our initial machine we got when we purchased the business about 10 years ago was setup that way, and I can't recall if I did or didn't back then, but with how well my memory works now I probably did lol.

It is the first thing that I do each and ever service. Then I check the float.

Yeah now days it is the same for me even if I have a full 300 gallons. I always connect and turn on the water before I do anything else. It is also the last thing I disconnect, so I can top off my tank.

Exactly, though after finding all these great pressure washing forums over the last month or so. I know I will be changing how I do some things. Over the years the only knowledge I have really gained was from another PW business in town here who we work closely with. Finding these forums will eventually really help with the way we do things. Specially since I am doing all the washing now, and my dad is just doing the bids. It gives me more flexibility to change things up.

So I Turned The Machine On Walked Away And Then I Hurd The Machine Start Making Not A Good Noise. Lol. I Said Ohhh Sh!%. And Ran For The Off Switch. Lol. Im Laughing Cause Everything Is Ok. But I Hate When I Forget Stuff.

Oh Well Just Thought It Would Be Fun To See How Many Of You Do The Same Stupid Things I Do. Lol I Guess We Are Human And Its Gonna Happen.

when leaving a power washer to be fixed how many mechanics would actually hook it up to a water source before starting.

That's what happens when you see the mechanic at the lawn mower shop. Any self respecting pw shop knows to hook up water to prevent damage and do a load check. No water, no load, how does he know he fixed the problem.

we do pretty much all our repairs ourself. Sometimes I wish I had a good place I could just take it and get it taken are of sometimes. But most of the repairs aren't that bad

No, i am saying you wont have to worry about toasting a pump if you have a tank and leave some water in it. Even if you just do residential there is a chance you will run into a home with little or no water pressure or even worse a bad well with very little pressure.

Having a tank does not make you big time, but it does save you money in the long run. We were all rookies one time or another, i was not implying anything.
