We're members, but not happy ones. Communication has gone downhill from what it was last year. No conventions are planned for 2007 or 2008. Dues are now $350.00 per year for contractors. And for that, you get the logo and the certificate of membership.

Is the certificate framed? or do you have to provide your own?

...didn't get a frame...

I was a member for a year. Only benefit to me was I met some great people including Cujo and Pam. I didn't renew when the dues went from $195 to $350. Too big of a jump all at once if you ask me for no benefits.

Never understood the whole convention change last time as well where the convention was planned and then it was combined with another convention.

You contributed much time and energy, what was it that turned you around and made you look at PWNA in an alternate way?

Hi David,

Nice to see you again. You're right. In the past I contributed much time and effort at my own expense to helping PWNA. (just as other BOD members did) When I left the BOD, it was an unpleasant experience, and today I wish I had been more vocal about it than I was at the time. I have watched other BOD's leave since then, mostly quietly, and have become more and more disillusioned.

Other than the renewal packet (which I had to ask for a few times) and the emails for the Alliance school we have gotten nothing from PWNA this year, with less this year in communication than last year. No conventions are planned for 07 or 08 as of this time.

Why did we stay members? PWNA membership = logo rental fee. That is what the PWNA has come to in my opinion. But it became a part of how we market our company and really for no other reason at this point, we are members. I have personally written to the BOD in the past to express my dissatisfaction, and the outcome was what I expected it would be in those circumstances.

I do not have the kind of confidence I used to in PWNA, and that is really a shame.

Peeners (pronounce pee nerz) (plural noun): Newbies that join the PWNA thinking that an association with a unified, industry-governing body will somehow benefit their business and the industry as a whole.

I am a recovering Peener. Been PWNA free almost two years now. One day at a time.

I just got my renewal and I will not be sending in my $350.00. It was tough when dues were $195.00 . When I look to see what I get in return for my HARD earned money it just doesn't seem worth it (for my business).

I paid my $350 for the next year. Considering what has happen with the two Exec PWNA Bods resigning so suddenly and then getting dismissed like they meant nothing to the PWNA...I would not have re-up'd f this would have happened first.

I market the PWNA but with no conventions in site and more importantly with so Many good PWNA BOD's leaving in disgust I am now questioning myself if its worth it to me anymore to be a PWNA member. Today the answer is no. Maybe in the future I'll have a change of heart on the PWNA but its not looking good.

Same here. We'll see what happens in the upcoming year but things aren't looking good.

I cant join an org with all that is going on, but this is interesting.

I have heard from a member of an org that the financials for an org are posted and they were quite upset about them.

If I heard them correct, the director of the org has recieved over $50,000.00 in compensation and 5000.00 in travel expenses year ti date. It was also pointed out to me that is about 80-90 percent of 60 thousand plus in revenue collected this year to date.

If you prorate that salary, the director is on track to make 80 grand this year.

Not a bad deal if I do say so myself. If these numbers are accurate almost 300.00 of every membership will go to the director / manager.
