Vinyl Oxidation Stain on Brick

Have a stubborn stain on brick. Looks like oxidation run off from the vinyl on the 2nd story.

Any Suggestions?

I would be suprised if vinyl siding actually had oxidation run-off. Normally itcomes from aluminum.

An acid blended detergent is usually required to clean such stains. Deitrich chemical makes such a cleaner. Be careful though with surrounding plants and vegetation.

I agree the acid works

I just finished a job exactly as you described this morning the acid for concrete and aluminum works great, just spray on with a pump up sprayer do not allow to dry and follow up with light pressure. If it is a large area use a surface cleaner I did, the lady was thrilled with the results she said it looked better than when it was new.:D

Actually Ron, I did not have my camera with me today anything else you would like to see let me know!

I just realized I accidentally posted this under Wood...sorry

The acid for concrete and alum.
Are you refering to Muratic? (for concrete...alum?)

I have not tried it yet, but the crew on this job tried hot water, scrubbing with a brush and soap.
(Have not been to the location myself yet)

Thanks!

No NOT Muriatic it's a mild acid wont etch I know I buy it from usapressure.com if you go to their site you may be able to see exactly what it is and find it locally. Their name for it is Clear Stuff it's about $8.00 gal.
Best Of Luck

OK...gotcha...I have some acids we use on our truck wheels (Aluminum) and equipment. Just never thought of using it on brick.

Thanks!

Forgot to post a peply with the results....

Used a product that I use on Non-Coated non-polished aluminum wheels
(etching cleaner)
similiar to the commercial brand "Eagle One"

And the stuff just went right away!

oxidation stain on brick

FYI, vinyl doesn't oxidize. It has to be aluminum you're referring to in this post. We call it "Paint Wash" up here in PA since it's the run off of water over the oxidized outer layer (paint) of aluminum siding. It usually looks like a white chalk on the brick. No matter how long you hit the stuff with high pressure hot or cold, it doesn't budge. This is a chemistry job, the water is just for rinsing with this stuff.

The best product we have found, and we've tried many, is Diedrich 101 in a 5-1 ratio. Put it on, give a little dwell time of a few minutes and power wash it off hot. Done a bunch of houses and commercial properties this way and they've come out perfect.

Hope that helps!
