Surface Cleaner Recommendations

Hello Everyone,

I am new to this and would really appreciate some advice.

I am looking to buy a surface cleaner and would love to hear some recommendations of a good affordable unit that gets the job done and will also hold up to some use.

I have a 6gpm - 4000 psi hot water machine, will this be enough to power a good surface cleaner?

Also a good all purpose (if this exists) cleaner for cutting grease/gum etc or just heavily soiled areas (sidewalks, dumpster areas etc) would be great to learn about as well.

Once again thanks for the advice and for this board as well, its really nice to be able to read and learn from the pros out there who are so willing to help one another out.

Have a great day!

I was told that Whisper Wash makes a darn good surface cleaner (the big guy 28").

Looks like a great piece of equipment.

I've got a lot of customers that use Whirl A Ways...great cleaner for the money.

I personally would like to say that I have several whirl a ways in my storage and in my humble not so educated oponion , they are garbage ! as long as you are using them with cold water they are fair but shoot the hot water and bingo bango ! NEW ROTARY UNION TIME ! EVERY ONE I HAVE HAD HAS BEEN REPAIRED SOOOO MUCH THEY KNOW HOW TO CHANGE THERE SELVES
Get the whisper wash big guy or ground force and rest at ease !

Thx for the advice everyone. I really appreciate the honesty. Sure saving money is great and all but if it means that they will be garbage or break in a few uses then that isnt what I am looking for.

I think I will go with a whisper wash as I will be running hot water through it and I want it to LAST!

Thanks once again for all the help/expertise!

Ditto on the whisper wash and big guy's. I personally have tourtured mine with endless heat and thousands of hours of use. I go thru a swivel and bearings every 6 months or so, but thats mostly to guys hitting $hit with the bar spinning at top speed  Good call Russ.

Yeah Russ, it is a beast! So fast you can walk behind it like a lawnmower.

The stock Maxima 36 needed some upgrading to push that kind of volume. Unfortunately it only comes with 1/4 hose from the gun to the swivel. I switched it out with a 3/8 hose and took the gun off that's only rated for 10gpm and put a high pressure ball valve on it with couplers. Makes a huge difference. All concrete cleaners should come with no gun and a ball valve. Guns restrict flow, and you need a ball valve anyway to rinse (without turning your machine off) so there's no need for a gun.

The bars on a Steel eagle are meant to be sacraficial, so that if you hit something it does not damage the union. I would rather replace $50.00 worth of bars than to replace a $400.00 deublin.
They also come out of alignment before they bend in most caes, so a monor adjustment and your back to work. Those monster aluminum bars on other surfacers are asking for trouble. I do have one I keep under the seat though, but it is not for the surfacer.

Mike,
You can get higher flow guns when needed. I run 8 gpm and use a 12 gpm gun, but they make them with 3/8" and 1/2" outlets when needed.

I am working on getting a 48" surface cleaner with dual deublins lined up for fabrication. One of these days, I will get on it.

I do that on all my surface cleaners it makes a big differance!
