New in the Business

Not sure if im posting this correctly but giving it a try. I am a former vet and in need of some very helpful advice. Long story short I was givin an oppurtunity to start a pressure washing business and to be honest am clueless.I do not want to by no means disprespect anybody or give the industry a bad name. If there is any chance someone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. This is not a side project and will be the source of my income for me and my daughter. I have purchased a vehicle, water storange tank, gum buster removal machine, cold water pressure washer. I did not know there were so many techniques and ways of pressure washing. I do not know where to get insurance and what kind as well as what to price. I am in the Houston area and at this point stressed out of my mind because I am anxious to start but now that ive been reading various forums and post not sure how. I was planning on starting small as far as store fronts and gas stations that are owned by friends..PLease any advice, information and prayers would be welcome. I am such a newbie and want to be a professional in this very elite group.

Hey folks. This is my first post. I've been powerwashing part-time for years and discovered this forum by accident. I'm a 1 man wrecking crew, with the occasional sub out of a staining job to some painter friends. I've been self taught from blood, sweat, trial and error. Been also working as a plumber full time for 10 years and will be licensed soon. I've been scrared to take a full plunge to self employment. It's tough to get steady accounts so its been pretty much strictly residential. I know I have alot to learn. Just wanted to intruduce myself and make my presence known. Pressure washing has been very rewarding. I look forward to getting to know some of you guys. Thanks.

Hi guys, I wanted to stop by and introduce myself. My name is Joey Satterfield, and I have been involved in the pressure washing industry, part-time for about 5 years now. I have come to realize, after working for corporate America for the last 8 years, my passion is moving forward with my pressure washing business full-time. I will be attending the SC roundtable in September, and look forward to meeting all of you that make this industry so great. There are so many things that I still have to learn, but I know that with networking, and Forums like this, it will be a success.

Hello from Florida. I just recently moved down here from the New England area, and found this site. I am an experienced Hood Exhaust Cleaner living in the Punta Gorda/Port Charlotte area, and am trying to find who does hood exhaust cleaning in my area. I have 3 years exp. doing this type of work, and trying to get a few leads. If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you Barry

Hello just wanted to introduce myself. I started my own pressure washing business this year and just attended my first roundtable here in SC. I've really learned alot and look forward to learning more and I've met some really great people. THANK YOU to all of you that so generously share your experience and knowledge. I hope some day I'll be able to repay the debt.

Hi Paul here,
Company in Tampa Florida Extreme Seal Inc,recently got introduced to your forum by Kory Finly also from Tampa.
And yes i admit that i do alot more than just pressure clean.

but i feel that i have a lot of knowledge to share with anyone who is willing to listen.
For example when was the last time any of you used bleach to clean anything?
Well i have not used bleach for the last two years, and i did see a comment of some one telling you all that the bleach he was buying was not as strong any more after sitting in his truck for a week, well gess wat, the bleach you are all buying contains ninety procent water, and after a week sitting in the hot sun you may end up with two percent?
I know i'm not aloud to promote any products on this site, but as i'm learning on how to navigate i'll will post my products in the appropiate place, untill then.
Good luck to all,and please don't quote your jobs to cheap, none of us will ever make any money, better of to quote and give your customer a ten percent discount, every one loves to get something for free,or at least make them believe so.
Any suggestions or comments contact me any time.
Paul

Hey from Las Vegas, My Name is Kim Smith, (I'm a guy, not many of us) I just came accross this sight and I am stoked. I am in the P/W business through osmosis but I have 30 years experiene owning my own businesses. The point is, I will always do my best to respect the Industry, this forum and it's members. It is wonderful that all of those who have put the time and unselfish effort into this are making it available to me, Thank you. I hane a Landa gas/diesel system with a surface cleaner and a wand, just enough to get in trouble. I inherited this from one of my kids when we helped them get into the business and they went south. I now own the equipment and I want to make the most of it. I also can really use an additional income stream in this current economic climate. I am a sponge and I am hear to soak up all the information I can. My goal is to learn, put it to use and pass it on. My favorite line is "Observation without follow through is worthless" Thank you for allowing me to be here.

Hello all! My name is Mike and I am at the early stages of beginning my PW business. I currently have a lawn care company and I am in the process of transitioning from Lawns to Pressure washing and could use as much help as possible. The folks at Sunbrite in Lawrenceville, GA have been awesome! I believe I have the basics for getting started, 4000psi PW, dual wand, extension pole, 100ft hose, 50ft hose. I've done small jobs, driveways and houses, but I could use some "How to" suggestions on pricing and finding bid requests. As well as what may be the best type of jobs I could tackle efficiently, make a profit, and keep a professional appearance.
I'd be more than happy to help out in any way I can.

Thanks Mike
