Welcome New Members

Hello Everyone
I'm new to this site but not new to the business. Some of you may know me from The Grime Scene, I've been active there for about 5 years and got started in powerwashing about 18 years ago. Business and residential work keeps me busy from April until November and then it's time to get ready for the snowplow season. I have also been a math and science teacher for 18 years but recently have become involved in special education... just finished my masters degree a few months ago in special ed. At home I live with my beautiful wife Polina of 10+ years, a wonderful 6 year old son Patrick, and a crazy Jack Russell Terrier named Cody.

I happy to be the newest member of the Pressure Washing Institute and hope to learn and share whatever I can. Thanks for having me aboard.

My name is Bret and I've done some pressure washing here and there (actually own older one my father handed down to me). These days, I tend to help the offshore and oil industry with their cleaning needs and finding better pressure washing solutions. Thanks for the approval and it's great to be on board here. Hope to learn a thing or two while here!

Hi everyone. I am Robert Burton, owner of the new start-up, SteamWorks Mobile Cleaning Services. I am originally from Shreveport, LA and relocated to Texas 4 years ago. I am married and have 4 wonderful kids. I am looking to change professions by starting a pressure washing business. I am looking forward to working for myself and learning so much from the community here at PWI! I do not have any any equipment yet but if anyone in the area is upgrading soon and is looking to get rid of some equipment, please let me know. I am currently working as a computer helpdesk / technical support tech for an insurance firm. Once again, thank you and I look forward to learning as much as possible from the PROs!

Hello, everyone. My name is Marc King and I own Marc's on the Glass, LLC. I've been in business for 7 years, primarily doing window cleaning, gutter cleaning & guard installs. I decided to stop referring all the pressure washing requests I receive from my customers, so I bought a complete "rig-in-a-van" equipped with a 4000 PSI, 6 GPM skid unit with a 325 degree burner. It has a 330 gallon tank, (2) 65 gallon chemical tanks, and everything I need (I think) to do jobs now.
I look forward to getting advice from this great group, and I hope I can contribute with the knowledge I've gained with windows and gutters, and with business in general. Thanks!

Hello

My name is Robert McLean and I run an external cleaning service in the UK called M-CLEAN UK (see www.m-clean.co.uk).

I have been in business for twelve years and am currently providing pressure washing to three of the top five supermarkets in the UK. This ranges from roof cleaning, full external - high/low pressure washing, refurbishment, new build and extension.

I seemed to have had the right website at the right time when five years ago we got a call to assist. From then to now we probably clean about forty supermarkets per year, with attendance on a national level. Easier to do this in the UK.

Just bought a George Podell - Hot & Mighty twin operator pressure washer to compliment five other diesel pressure washers & two petrol pressure washers.

I look forward to reading comments and passing on any knowledge gained.

Hey Everyone, I am new here, but have been in business full-time since 2004. After the frustration of dealing with employer who rarely followed through on promises and passed the buck constantly, I quit my job and started roof cleaning but ended up full-time residential power washing soon after starting. I was off to a good start and had record growth month after month. I never really knew about how to run a business. In my arrogance I just thought I could do better than most. The winters have been tough since the Real Estate crash and I am getting into commercial now for stability in recurring services. Commercial is completely new territory for me. Before power washing I was a residential contractor for our local cable company and I was a DISH Dealer for many years. Residential power washing was a natural fit and I was comfortable working in and around people's homes. I have always been technical minded and mechanically inclined so getting the job done has never been a problem. I had lurked around some forums off and on over the years, but never really followed the ongoing dialog. I just searched for the info needed and being dedicated to doing my best, things have always worked out. That being said, there was no reason for me to post since I really had no knowledge to add and after intense searching I usually found what I was looking for. My agenda has been to get on, find what I am looking for and go back to work.

I live and work in Nashville, I have a wonderful wife named Jennifer and twin daughters Ashlyn and Layney who will be nine end of this month. We have 3 cats (RC, Moonpie and Oliver), one dog (Wrigley after the ball field), two dwarf hamsters (Jellybean and Gumballs), a Venus Flytrap (Seymour) and some dirt and seeds which should grow a Venus Flytrap soon! I am actively involved in my church through volunteer work and my girls go to a Christian School here in Nashville which we are active with as well.

When I got into residential my confidence level was high, because I was familiar enough with houses and a homeowner's perspective, but in commercial I do not have that advantage. I like to do new things, but always take time to manage risk and proceed with caution. I have made many mistakes in my business over the years and very few of them have been discussed openly in the forums. Some people will charge a fee to teach these things which is okay with me, but it is hard to know who to give your hard earned money to and trust with the livelihood of your family. I don't expect that to change, but change is welcome as far as I am concerned. You hear people say, "You only get out of something, what you put into it", well that is half true. It always one person saying that to another. Why do you have to do it alone? Why is it one persons's job to put into something? My girls, when told to do something, will both hesitate while waiting for the other to act first. That is manipulation, not cooperation!

I am looking forward to growing with all of you and on behalf of the struggling contractors trying to find their niche, I humbly ask for the support of the ones who are truly "making it" in this business and have the time to volunteer. Find someone who is lost and point them in the right direction!

Have a good day! ;-)

I'm also new here... introduced to the site by Everett Abrams from Deck Restorations Plus. My company does a process known as wet abrasive media blasting. It's similar to Soda Blasting or Sand Blasting but without the dust and a fraction or the media mess. So if I'd have to explain it to someone it's a cross between abrasive blasting and power washing. The purpose of the water is to eliminate dust. We recently timed our water usage was less than a gallon a minute with most of it evaporating within seconds.

We're based out of central New Jersey and my website is: http://www.atlanticgreenpro.com

Check it out and we do a lot of subcontract work.

Again, this looks to be a great website as well as resource.
