Welcome New Members

Hi dale, very interesting and definitely marketable...can you divulge what media your using at such low pressure...dry ice?
i'm also new here... Introduced to the site by everett abrams from deck restorations plus. My company does a process known as wet abrasive media blasting. It's similar to soda blasting or sand blasting but without the dust and a fraction or the media mess. So if i'd have to explain it to someone it's a cross between abrasive blasting and power washing. The purpose of the water is to eliminate dust. We recently timed our water usage was less than a gallon a minute with most of it evaporating within seconds.

We're based out of central new jersey and my website is: http://www.atlanticgreenpro.com

check it out and we do a lot of subcontract work.

Again, this looks to be a great website as well as resource.

Dale

Hey Everyone, I am new here, but have been in business full-time since 2004. After the frustration of dealing with employer who rarely followed through on promises and passed the buck constantly, I quit my job and started roof cleaning but ended up full-time residential power washing soon after starting. I was off to a good start and had record growth month after month. I never really knew about how to run a business. In my arrogance I just thought I could do better than most. The winters have been tough since the Real Estate crash and I am getting into commercial now for stability in recurring services. Commercial is completely new territory for me. Before power washing I was a residential contractor for our local cable company and I was a DISH Dealer for many years. Residential power washing was a natural fit and I was comfortable working in and around people's homes. I have always been technical minded and mechanically inclined so getting the job done has never been a problem. I had lurked around some forums off and on over the years, but never really followed the ongoing dialog. I just searched for the info needed and being dedicated to doing my best, things have always worked out. That being said, there was no reason for me to post since I really had no knowledge to add and after intense searching I usually found what I was looking for. My agenda has been to get on, find what I am looking for and go back to work.

I live and work in Nashville, I have a wonderful wife named Jennifer and twin daughters Ashlyn and Layney who will be nine end of this month. We have 3 cats (RC, Moonpie and Oliver), one dog (Wrigley after the ball field), two dwarf hamsters (Jellybean and Gumballs), a Venus Flytrap (Seymour) and some dirt and seeds which should grow a Venus Flytrap soon! I am actively involved in my church through volunteer work and my girls go to a Christian School here in Nashville which we are active with as well.

When I got into residential my confidence level was high, because I was familiar enough with houses and a homeowner's perspective, but in commercial I do not have that advantage. I like to do new things, but always take time to manage risk and proceed with caution. I have made many mistakes in my business over the years and very few of them have been discussed openly in the forums. Some people will charge a fee to teach these things which is okay with me, but it is hard to know who to give your hard earned money to and trust with the livelihood of your family. I don't expect that to change, but change is welcome as far as I am concerned. You hear people say, "You only get out of something, what you put into it", well that is half true. It always one person saying that to another. Why do you have to do it alone? Why is it one persons's job to put into something? My girls, when told to do something, will both hesitate while waiting for the other to act first. That is manipulation, not cooperation!

I am looking forward to growing with all of you and on behalf of the struggling contractors trying to find their niche, I humbly ask for the support of the ones who are truly "making it" in this business and have the time to volunteer. Find someone who is lost and point them in the right direction!

Have a good day! ;-)

Welcome To PWI, great to have you here.

Hey all, I am a newbie on the west coast. I joined back in March, but, wanted to do plenty of reading before I asked any questions. I'm not sure if my signature is filled out.

I am a painting contractor, planning on offering pressure washing to my service. I have already invested in most of the equipment I believe I need, but, I know there are a few key pieces I still need to add.

The information on this forum has been incredibly helpful! I look forward to many more nights of my wife trying to pry me away from this forum and plethera of knowledge!

Hey all! My name is Ryan. I run a small window cleaning business in Central IL. We also roof clean, gutter clean, pressure wash, and clean siding. Basically anything you see on the outside of a home that is dirty!
We've yet to do a roof cleaning job, as we don't really have the equipment to do so. I imagine we could get it done if we had a call for it, put right now we're not really pushing that aspect of our services quite yet.

I've been cleaning windows for about 7 yrs and consider myself a very experienced professional, from pure water to traditional methods there is not much I haven't done. My business? It's been on board for about almost a year now. Not where I want it to be, but I'm working on that and overcoming these obsticals.
You can thank Ron for my joining, he seems to be a pretty good guy. I will probably be a lurker for a while, I don't have much to offer when it comes to pressure washing and whatnot. I hope to learn a lot. Look forward to meeting most of you, I'm sure I already know a few from the other forums.
Have a nice day!

Hey fella's I thought I would introduce myself as well. My name is Steve and I'm from Santa Rosa County Florida. I currently operate my own business and have for the last 8 years. I am looking integrate roof and house washing to my current business model. I have read alot from this and other forums over the last 6 months and I have learned a great deal. I also see alot of similarities, especially in marketing, between pressure washing and my current business. I hope to learn alot from you as well as help others whenever possible. I notice that Russ lives fairly close (I have worked in his area) so I may bug him alittle....

I believe I have a handle on how I want to set my rig up except for one thing.....the tank, or tanks. Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. Size, number, place to purchase, and set up.

Thanks and I look forward to growing this side of my business.
