Can anyone guess what happened here?

We did not clean this roof.
Yes it is clean, there is not algae on it.
    It has a white look.

Reef had nothing to do with this roof at all.

Nope, I'm waiting for Chris and some of the other "experts" to chime in. Don or Chris might recognize this look. I drive by this everyday. I have only posted this on PWI so y'all can't cheat by looking on another board.

    I’ve seen this problem before.

Attached is a picture we took 3 years ago. The roof is dry, but it looks patchy because someone had tried to seal it 3 years earlier. We explained to the Homeowners that they need to have the sealer stripped in order to get the original color of their roof back – or they could simply wait a few more years for all of it to burn off.

Since we wouldn’t take the liability of putting stripper on the roof because of what it might do to the Valleys, tar paper, and flashings - & they couldn’t find anyone else that would do it, the Homeowners ending up spending close to $40,000 to have the roof replaced about a year later.

Unfortunately, we’ve seen it way too often. It is usually done by either a Pressure Washer or a Painter that is just “trying their hand” or just starting out at Roof Cleaning.

BTW, If I had no idea what the hell I was talking about, I might have guessed Roof-A-Cide, too. Ken, maybe you should stick to trying to sell $2.00 worth of sodium per carbonate for $40.00 a shot. That seems to be your area of expertise.

At least First Choice, with his very limited knowledge & experience, was woman enough to admit he was just guessing.

Homeowners that might be reading these Bulletin Boards should keep in mind:
Many of these so called "roof cleaning companies" are little more then poorly trained fast buck artists, trying to learn the roof cleaning business, often at your expense.
