Fleet Washing For Lease Companies

Are any of you doing washing for lease companies. We do 80% of Ryders business, 100% of Penskys business and 100% of Ideal Lease. These are some serious fleet washing accounts to land. You start washing for these companies and they look for work for you, so as to say. Every account they lease to you get a call to wash, never look for business again. Just an idear for those of you that are in or looking to get in the fleet washing part of the business.

I did Ryder a few years ago, and they got crazy and started pulling business from me, because they decided it was too far for me to go for work. Then they started losing their onsite wash accounts, and it got to where it wasn't worth it anymore. I finally told them that I was done.

Of course, it could have had something to do with a Customer Rep that was too impressed with his position.

I think Pensky owns Ryder and Fleetwash some one let me know if I'm wrong. I do wash lease trucks but for companies that lease not Pensky. Most lease contracts do include some sort of wash. $5 or $10 truck washes with full recovery is not for me.

Washum, you're close.....Pensky owns Fleet Wash. Pensky definitely has nothing to do with Ryder. As for the prices and something else you said I totally agree. I went through the same thing with Ryder down here a few years ago where new managers though they could save Ryder plenty money letting me go and using Fleet Wash. Two years later and plenty very mad customers Ryder called me back to a VERY MUCH HIGHER PRICE! Now Ryder is happy, the customers are happy and I smile all the way to the bank. Pensky, was a little bit different because the corporation owns Fleet Wash and was forced to use their own wash company until they started loosing customers to Ryder. Pensky now uses us and no longer uses Fleet Wash here in lower Louisiana. A company is only as good as the employees they hire and the ones they were hiring here..........well go figure!

Actually, Roger Penske has controlling interest in Fleetwash. However, he does NOT have controlling interest in Penske, the corporation that bears his name. So what I'm saying is that it is not a "given" that Penske (the Corporation/leasing and service company) will give it's work to Fleetwash. In fact, if they were smart, they would take work away from Fleetwash when they had the chance because the more work they give Fleetwash, the more power they give Roger Penske to take back Penske the corporation. Penske is big up here in Minnesota, but both Nationalease and Ryder are small. But as you've indicated Al, it's always good to make friends with the right people!

Biodude, Thanks for that info. The head guy down here at Pensky, who probally doesn't know as much as you do it seems, is the one that told me Pensky owns Fleet Wash and they are required to use them on thier accounts however in a case like this where the employees at Fleet Wash are doing such a bad job and finding new help is almost impossible they had no other alternative but go to a outside source to keep the customers happy. Sounds like if you know all this info you know a few of the right people also. Good Deal.

Here in Colorado Pensky and Ryder have there own wash bay.

There needs to be more Ron!!

Lets start one!
Mike, you ever wash garbage trucks? We do. Different animal then tractors. Dont do those anymore, always had a hard time getting bugs off the huge scoop over the top of the cab. That's not the reason - had a small fleet of those. 20 trucks every 2 weeks but had a hard time paying.
What are you into?

Lease company washing services will vary by location and state. Those with wash bays will typically do them themselves. Or if they can do it on regular service they may do that.
