HDTV Home Theater

For those of you looking to buy a High Definition TV. Think BIG!!

I bought my first HDTV in July. A 32" Vizio. It's a good TV, but I found myself wanting to sit really close to appreciate the detail and get that theater feel. Sitting too close sucks obviously. So I did some research and found that the larger HDTVs costs way too much.

But wait! Front projectors also are made in High-Def! You can have as large a screen as you want for less then $1000. I started out with a 70" wide screen and had to upgrade. It didn't have that immense theater feel.

I now have a 92" wide screen. The largest I could possibly fit.

That's what you want! GET THE BIGGEST MOST MIND BLOWING SCREEN YOU CAN!!! You'll love it!

MY HOME THEATER SYSTEM

Mitsubishi HC-1500- 2500:1 Contrast Ratio, 1280x720 pixels, 1600 lumens

Dalite 2.5 gain, glass beaded 92" screen

Pioneer Home Theater 5.1 Surround Sound receiver system.

Toshiba HD-A2 HD DVD player

TOTAL PRICE - $1500

Holy cow - 92" wide......how tall is it? That's not just a TV, it's a WALL.

Mike, your absolutely right. My father just put in an 112" screen with a DLP projector and paid about $700 bucks for the projector and $100 for the screen, he bought them used, but they are perfect. He hooked it to his existing 5.1 surround sound and it is amazing...it is truely the way to go if you have the space....He built a theatre in the basement. I will take pics and post them.

I would not trade my 48 plasma with surround sound for anything!! You cant compare the two as far as picture quality. Bigger is not always better..

Just wait till next year when laser HDTV's start hitting the market
Current LCD's and plasma's can reproduce about 33% of the colors a human eye can recognized, but a laser HDTV can reproduce 90% of the colors. Oh and the kicker....... They cost half as much to produce as a LCD or Plasma. Now I imagine when they first come out they will cost more but once they get production blimps worked out I imagine you will see big tv's for alot cheaper

The picture quality is astonishing. You have to see it to appreciate it.

You can figure out the correct proportions to achieve a theater size screen, the immense size and feel of a real movie theater.

Bestbuy and Circuit City do not have anything this large to compare it with. I saw a HD projector with a big screen at Hugo's sports bar on Spring Garden in Greensboro and had to have it.

I have a 42-inch Plasma TV with Bose Surround sound system. I also subscribe to all the High Def channels Dish network offers. You can't beat either the picture or sound quality. The High Def channels are outstanding and the pictures look as though they are jumping out at you they look so real. I will take this setup over any others. Hugh

I have seen projection units.
They look great, in a darkened room.
Maybe the DLP and Hi Def are better ?
I have a 55 inch Samsung non DLP rear projection.
Just waiting for the new Laser stuff to come out, and down in price.
My real hobby is Audio.
I built a pair of corner mounted subwoofers that will shake the neighborhood.
I have B&W Speakers, B&W 801's in front.
All separate amps, processors, preamps, etc.
