PWNC to Meet in Raleigh NC

PWNC

New member
The PWNC is making plans for another meeting, this time in Raleigh, NC, to present the program as well as take suggestions. The date is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, March 1. For more information, please visit PWNC and sign up for our newsletter. Next issue will go out 2/10/2008.

Another topic outside of the introduction that will surely be discussed is the widespread water restrictions that are affecting the NC companies and ways to insure that your company can continue washing during this time. Please bring any contact information that you may have for officials in your area.

Bring business cards and ideas - we look forward to seeing you there!

I would like to go to the meeting. Are people outside of the carolinas able to come?

Do you work in North Carolina some Brian? Anyone who works in the Carolinas is absolutely welcome.

Celeste

We're getting down to the wire on this meeting - the press will be present, we have obtained sponsorship from Landa in Raleigh to provide lunch for attendees.

PLEASE COME TO THIS MEETING IF THE WATER RESTRICTIONS ARE AFFECTING YOUR BUSINESS IN THE CAROLINAS. The perception that OUR INDUSTRY is the main water user is NOT going to change until we stand and defend ourselves and livelihood.

You can register multiple ways: On the PWNC site, on the Contractor Events site - Send a PM - Send an email - PICK UP THE PHONE.

The meeting is this coming Saturday in Raleigh NC at 1:00. Lunch will be provided. There is no charge.

This is a great opportunity for those in NC! You can't beat free press.

We need it badly right now as well. Every other industry is answering the public perceptions about water conservation and the pwing industry is being layed out as the scapegoat. Anyone in this area who wants to stay in business needs to be here - and I don't mean that to sound like a big voice of doom, we just need to let everyone know who we are, what we do and how important it is. NUMBERS WILL COUNT AT THIS GATHERING!

Celeste

Jeff,

It's about 3.5 hours from you - I would not bring your rig. I certainly do NOT see where bringing the family would show poorly.

The primary purpose of this meeting is to show people that our businesses are needed and that we are that - businesses (with families) just like everyone else. If family attendance strikes an emotional chord, this is fine, but we are prepared to bring attention to our cause with facts and numbers that show how harmful it is to downplay what we do.

Celeste

Celeste, I will know tomorrow if we are going to make it up there.
If we do, we're prolly going to spend the night.
Anyone else bringing kids?
We have to, no family or sitter here, yet.

Celeste, How far is the trip from Myrtle?

Should contractors bring rigs to show we are professionals or family or what

Personally, that sounds like a great idea to me!!!

Beth

You know what.......rethinking......yes, I do think maybe we should get rigs over. I feel an idea coming on :) Be back with details soon!

Celeste,

Why don't you get someone to bring a rig with a reclaim system. Show them that it's possible to clean concrete walkways to remove gum and other dirt, then pickup all the water used for use at another location.

Everyone hates stepping in gum and tracking it everywhere so they can relate to that. It can also show just how little water pressure washers can use if they are properly set up.

Another factor is a professionally set up rig can clean an area faster, using less water than is normally used by a home owner, store owner or a guy with under performing equipment.

I am not affected by water restrictions in Charleston SC, will there be any other topics ??????

Jeffrey,

You may not be affected at the moment by restrictions, however, according the the National Weather folks, this is all going to get worse before it ever gets better.

There will be some conversations I'm sure about other issues, but this meeting has taken a specific course now. With that said, because it is an effort to educate the public, I feel pretty certain that good business practices will be a topic that is up for discussion. The way to educate is to show HOW we are effective, HOW we conserve, HOW we run our businesses. If you can't take something away from a large group discussing how to do this, then you should be telling us what to do :)

Celeste

What I'm thinking Jeff, is that if we do bring rigs in, we can show that we have invested in equipment to do jobs effectively & efficiently, that we have means of reclaiming water used, that the general opinion of this industry is WRONG. I think not only bring rigs, but let's have a "rig contest"! Best set up, biggest set up, most efficient set up.....something? I'm pretty sure I can come up with a prize :)

I was thinking, let them know this isnt just some guy making beer monoy, this is business and how would they like their business or their job shut down, How would the news people like it if electricity was in shortage and they decided to stop TV use for 6 months I always love when they say make sure your faucet isnt running and big biz can dump a zillion gallons every day on old water wasting equipment
