EPA Enforcement in 2012 Protects Communities From Harmful Pollution

Question and observation... I was not around the industry at original formation of the UAMCC, but is it the same entity with the same vision/plan as before? I don't know, that is why I ask.

Jealousy, I doubt it. A belief in a different approach to the BMP issue and the role we play in pollution prevention and pressure washing maintenance perhaps.

It was created to represent a different group, then I as always I gave it to the Contractors plus $1,000.00 seed money. Ask nothing in return.

The industry needed two associations at the time; that has happened.

Jealousy,you bet.

Oh wow where do I start Steve.. To keep it short & sweet--Robert was willing to give the UAMCC away for nothing to help others to have there own group he already started. He had probably 30 or so paid members at that time, I was 1,Tony Szabo,Rob Huffman etc etc. It was Michael Kriesel who's a heck of a nice guy who came up with the idea of "Contractors for Contractors" at the first meeting attended by around 70 people if not more in PA.

So the goal was to make this a strictly ran contractors organization with no Board of directors allowed to be any Vendor, partial Vendor or anything like that.

We built this org. Up to about 140+ paid members.

Today the UAMCC vision must be different today because starting with there board members alone there top 2 guys are Vendor/Contractors. Since I am no longer a member I couldn't state what there vision is because I don't talk to anyone anymore concerning UAMCC matters.

There vision today is headed by Ron Musgraves. He's the best to answer if there vision of contractors for contractors when Robert gave it to us is anywhere close to what the vision of the UAMCC is today.

Do you ever regret giving away the UAMCC and you still get so much heartache from these guys trying to tear you down?

John:

There is always that of the segment of every industry. UAMCC offers them a platform to stand on.

They will always try to take credit for what others have done; they fit the typical profile. I just consider the source and go on.

Training is my objective, though unconventional, it is working. If it had no value, there would be no traffic.

Robert I was happy to share all I knew with you, just thought along the way it might help you better your program for guys. I never realized or dreamed you would keep dead on the same path even when you told me you would not.

I know your realize from the people who surround you that winning the popular contest is not a concern.

I will suggest that leader and contractors start writing your BOD

Today all who want to make a Difference and Voice that Robert is not the choice Based on the simple Fact that are not factual above. Semantics are hurting contractors around the world. People are being hurt from incorrect perceptions of who and what we do. Your masses us in with Industrial waste generators.

Sure Robert your sell a few thousand of dollars in equipment and contractors revenues are hurt by the million mark.

I just can't really understand why your do what you do. Surely you must see it. I see there is no stopping you because if the PWNA boots you out again you will just start another org.

In all fairness now, print all of lthe contact information for UAMCC BODs that are paid up members.

I got a silly question.

Ok biodegradable means that whatever it is will break down and return back to nature. Far as I know, everything ON this planet CAME FROM this planet right?? Far as I know, we don't get stuff to make things from outer space yet so EVERYTHING IMO is biodegradable. You leave a chunk of metal on the ground long enough and it will rust away right? Anything and everything on this planet is made from stuff that came from this planet! Earth adapts and renews itself for the most part and us pressure cleaners (very few compared to the rest of the population) cause a LOT less pollution than most factories themselves cause! IMO we help the environment by washing away pollution, germs that cause sickness, bacteria, mold and mildew, etc

I'm with Tom, you mean we cant clean the asphalt tracked onto concrete without capturing our water but city and county hwy departments can just pour it on the ground to make our roads!!!!! You can't tell me that in the hot summer, a quick afternoon shower doesn't wash some of the hot asphalt (hydrocarbons!!) into the ground, into ditches, into storm drains, etc.
Biodegradable is perhaps the most mis-used term in the cleaning industry. It makes me cringe every time I see it. I remember visiting Ft. Stewart in GA a few years ago and coming across several young enlisted men degreasing an M1 Abrams tank over grass with a mass marketed "Green" degreaser. They told me their commander told them to use the biodegradable soap so they wouldn't have any environmental problems. I asked them what they though was happening to all the grease they were washing off the tank and one of them said that the chemical was "making it go away".

As to everything returning back to the earth, yes and no. There are many chemical concoctions that man makes and are not found in nature. Some of these molecules will stay in that state for millions if not billions of years. Take persistent organic pollutants for example. These man made chemicals used in pesticides have been washed away into the environment and samples can now be found in deep sea squids. The chemical gets into the food chain through filter feeders and goes on up in everything that eats it. http://www.nefsc.noaa.gov/press_release/2008/SciSpot/ss0810/ Eventually that stuff could end up in you and I.

So are you suggesting we turn our own in again?
Having been in this business for two decades and sold more than a thousand wash water recycling systems, I can tell you that is how many violations are reported. I remember an auto salvage yard in LA back in the 1990's that got nailed for dumping wash water. He was mad he had to pay a fine and about $25,000 for a wash water system. He proceeded to take pictures of his competitors doing the same thing and reported all of them. Unfortunately for him, that industry had some unsavory characters and he fell off the face of the earth shortly there after.

The general public has no idea that washing something and allowing the water into the storm drain could be a problem. I doubt 95% of the public even knows the difference between a storm and sanitary sewer.

Its all complete unlike yours, so in all fairness please ask Jackie to update yours.

I asked all members on the BOD to pay thru there term. If they did not do that and are not current as there membership come due they will be dismissed per by-laws.

Phillip:

Very well stated, thanks for posting.

To help stop the confusion between Sanitary and Storm Sewers, the EPA Requested several years ago that they be referred to as "Sanitary Sewers" and "Storm Drains".

As far as turn in each other this is what generally happens:

  • Certain Ethnic Groups have no problem in turning in their neighbor or friends.
  • Generally Caucasians have a harder time; and do not do it until it has a negative impact on their ability to provide for their families, as in the case above.
  • Also people with criminal backgrounds tend to be more aggressive regardless of race. Incarceration generally make them worst and with quicker tempers.
This is an individual decision of when!

Thanks Robert that Looks great that page, all the info correct and up to date.

Feel free to address these people, most have taken Wash water control and are vary experienced on the subject. We are putting a lot of stock in this.

I know this , I bet on this BOD is much more aware than your current. They will be getting up to speed, Charlie Arnold and a few others understand.

Pound for pound this BOD I'm proud to say it is tight and well educated. They will do the right thing when the day ends.

Will someone please check and see if posts like these, with multiple headlines of VIOLATIONS, FINES, EPA,CWA etc, are hurting us TODAY. It just seems this may be POPPING UP ON SOMEONES RADAR. he just does it over and over and over again. seems weird
