2 Step Wash with foam cannon

I was wondering if anyone has tried a 2 step wash using 2 foam cannons. One with acid the other with alkaline soap?

Currently I brush almost all of my customers trucks, which is labourious and time consuming. But I have a few that I can get away with a 2 step wash, but my unit isn't set-up for a 2 step wash. It's 4.5GPM 3,000PSI hotwater machine and I was looking for the simplest way to do a 2 step wash. Thought I might find someone here to help me out.

There are many systems, many machines, many different ways to do the 2-stepping for fleet washing.

Something that a couple friends told me was that with the more gpm's you run, the faster you wash so if you upgrade to the 5.5 then 8gpm, you will wash faster and faster along with rinsing a lot faster.

You can use systems that you can buy like the kind that run chemicals through the pump that have 2 hoses running to the gun, you can get the Bioclean system, you can use downstream injectors, you can run soap through the pump and downstream the acid and manually turn the soap on/off, use a remote, walk back and forth to the truck/trailer, you can run both the soap/acid through the pump and switch like the above, you can use pump up sprayers for the acid, etc....

There are so many ways to do this, a good idea would be find someone not in your city and go train with them to see how they do it and learn what you like/dislike and then find another company that does it another way and then you can figure out what way/system you want to go with.

There are just so many options these days, hard to decide without seeing them in action.

Because there are only about 3 washers in my area that cover about a 1,000 square mile area and we all mostly brush I don't have anyone to learn from. But I may try something like a shurflo pump for my 1st step and then use a downstream injector on my wash unit for the 2nd step. I doubt the customers that I currently brush will accept a non-brush method, so I will only be doing a few brushless jobs.

With only 3 other contractors in a 1000 sq.mile area, that is a huge opportunity for you to grow your business.

With that much work you could have a guy or two just brushing, one guy applying soap and another rinsing and fly through those trucks and just wash fleet after fleet every day.

Sounds like a great opportunity out there, take advantage of it.

In that 1,000 square miles there is a population of about 74,000 so mostly a rural area. I do have someone helping me but he just graduated from college so I could loose him any time. I am thinking about expanding but not sure which way I want to do it yet ei: another truck or larger pump running 2 wands.

Hey cool squirt guy!

A drop cord with 2 dema valves is the easiest and cheapest way to 2 step. You definatly dont have to have 2400 bucks to 2 step a truck.

I'm not familiar with either a drop cord or dema valves can you elaborate a little?

The way I would look at it is if you had several places to be on the same day/time then I would go with another truck.

If you just had larger fleets on the lots then I would add another rig to the truck so 2 guys could get the fleet washed faster then on to the next yard, just my opinion.

have not tried a foam cannon but did 2 step with an m jet. ran 2 lines to the gun with a valve on each line. soap/acid instant on/off. outside of being a little low on pressure it worked very well and was quick.
