Chuck doesn’t seem to post much anymore, but since this is where I met the guy, I think it’s appropriate to offer my thanks and gratitude here, for all the help he has given me over the past several months.

Chuck is one of the most decent people I’ve ever had the pleasure of running into. He tells it like it is. No BS about it. The guy has used enormous amounts of his time and energy to work with me, thru emails and on the phone. He even extended an offer for me to come out to visit and check out his operation.

Thanks to Chuck’s knowledge and his willingness to share it, I probably have the most sophisticated mobile water softening system in town. The water in my area runs from 2 to 20 grains of hardness per gallon. Worst-case scenario, with the setup that Chuck taught me how to put together, I can run 2 machines (9gpm) for an entire workday with soft water. Then, at night I just regenerate the softener myself at a cost of about 3 or 4 bucks.

Washing (anything) with soft water makes an unbelievable difference. I can now wash faster, better, and most importantly cheaper then I could before, and I don’t have to worry about scaling up my coils. Yes, I still get water spots from dust and pollen but we’re working on solving that little problem too.

Again, my sincerest thanks and gratitude to you Chuck!

PS: When I get out there, dinner is definitely on me. You pick the <Strike>place</Strike>, I mean Palace!

and I don’t have to worry about scaling up my coils. .........hmm Booyaa I thought softwater would scale faster than hardwater or just as bad altho I do agree the softwater makes cleaning easier when useing chemicals made for softwater.......will agree also old Chuck-e is a OK guy.

It’s really nice that people do thank folks for helping. I talk to Chuck on occasion and he is a great guy. I can tell he is a decent person just from talking. I think he said he would be at the next round table?

Paul, I’m glad your gratitude is well in place. Having guys like yourself make these BBS that we all answer questions on a bit more worth while.

I cant begin to thank the guys that have helped me along the way, too many and I would forget all the names and then someone would be P>O>ed.

I feel that I need to set the record straight. Booyaa, didn’t make ANY of the statements in my post. So, I think directing questions to him about what I said is unfair to him and me. Also, bare in mind that the guy runs a coldwater operation, so the hot side of the equation was up to me. Chuck was more than helpful in so far as he shared his knowledge and experience with me and even suggested places/sources for me to go to do research. He also has a goodly amount of knowledge about hot water, although he doesn’t admit to it lol!

The local water experts I’ve been dealing with (two sources with a combined total of 45 years of full time service experience) tell me that my system removes around 100% (give or take) of the calcium and magnesium in the water, which passes through my coil. According to my water tester, they’re right. They also tell me that these minerals, including “other” dissolved solids, are the main culprits, which cause heater coils to scale. Therefore, using their logic, I’ve haven’t totally eliminated the chances of scaling up my coil but, I have significantly reduced them.

As far as achieving spot free glass, Chuck is skeptical at best. However, if what I’m up to works, then we’ll both have learned something. If it doesn’t, at least I will know I tried.

I’d sure be interested to know what chemicals don’t perform better with soft water as well as what chemicals are designed specifically for use with soft water?

The one thing I’ve learned over the past couple of years, and especially the past few months, is that water is a science unto itself. Its properties can change from one well or source to the next, and usually does. For instance, I can drive 7 miles south of where I live and the water goes from 12 grains down to 2. If I drive north 7 miles it goes to 20 grains.

Finally, all this began when I casually mentioned to Chuck that Culligan’s soft water was going to cost me a small fortune on a continual basis. That’s when Chuck enlightened me, by explaining that I could achieve the same results at a much more reasonable cost and have complete control over the operation.

Once again, if you’re reading this Chuck, Thank you.

Now, on to the recovery/filtration system... Hey, does anybody know how I can get in touch with Kendra?

I do not see where I was being unfair to Booyaa and laughed when you said unfair to you too........ I only answered the way I read your post.

They are chemicals made to use with hardwater and some work with both plus some are only made to use with softwater.

The same goes for chemicals as in one supplier to the other.

You should be able to reach Kendra though the members area.
