Has anyone tried the defy wood products such as the stripper?

I have my first deck project coming up and it is stained. The homeowner wants the remaining stain removed, and will be applying a new stain that he purchases.....Im not sure if it is an oil based stain or not(the one already on the deck). I have practiced on a couple of friends and families decks to get my technique down but i have never removed stain before. the stain on this deck is old and should come up fairly easy. what do u guys use to get the stain up quickly and most importantly COST EFFECTIVELY.........the deck is 16x20. do u buy already mixed products (if so what products) or do you make your own (such as the apple sauce recipe for roofs) any help is appreciated

thanks Ken, i was looking at that one (HD-80) this morning as well as the wolmans. both priced relatively the same 20-25 bucks for 5 gallons....The defy looks good but it is too expensive

hmmmmm thanks ron
Big, we just have rules.

PWI is a contractor and Kens a Dist of products. Even though he is reffering another product its not allowed.

The product he recommended i'm sure is a very good one. Product he recommended is very good.

We just want a product recomendation for you by someone that has no conflict or has used a product in the field.

Ron, whatever man. You are so full of sh*t sometimes your eyes are brown. I'm starting to see more and more every day what you are about. I have done wood restoration for several years now. I receive no profit from ESI. I receive no profit from The Sealer Store. I am an experienced wood contractor and I do not sell to ANY contractors on this forum or any pressure washing forum. My market is the homeowner. If I wanted to plug something it would be Restore-A-Deck.. yes? HD-80 is the best stripping product I have found in versatility of strength and cost of use. Period. If my experienced opinion is not worthy of your show here, Ron, that's fine. I have no problem moving on.

You question my integrity yet you move from board to board promoting this board, your giveaways, your videos and your techniques. Please hold up that mirror before you make comments.

I see both sides. Ron is trying to keep his forum unbiased of certain products and doesn’t want distributors promoting products. You never know whose getting paid under the table…

HD-80 is a fine product esproducts.net carries and doesn’t cost an arm and leg to strip a deck with.

Ron, Ken doesn’t promote his products on the boards and is strictly to homeowners.

Ken theres a place in PWI you can promote your stuff all you want.

No one question your integrity, Your recent comments are very un-professional.

The difference is I sell nothing but pressure cleaning. I'm a contractor. ( your a distributor of products) I cannot allow you and tell paul he cannot promote in those areas. Its been and old rule and it the rules.

Sorry your offended.

Rule are rules..

Any product can be promoted in the correct areas, contractors can reccomend any products.

Example: If Beth wanted to list a link to TGS or to a distributor she may. Beth Sell not products. Therefore meets the criteria set for PWI.

Matt, Any dist can advertise free in the right sections. they have there own section.

As far as the original poster, PWI is about the best source. I would say TGS and Deckquide have more contractors using Wood products. That might be the correct source.

Thanks Beth for posting a link to TGS.

Ken is not on my payroll..

Your both Dist as explained, Dist can promote or suggest any products in contractor areas.

Your welcome to advertise or answer questions in those forums.

dist can help in all forums but cannot promote any products outside those forums.

Thanks for you help and sorry if you misunderstood. Ken Knows the Rules

Matt, that was a poor comment to make also. I could careless whos getting paid. Its not allowed and we dont have to worry. We make no exceptions and this way we know as contractors we are getting the best.

Its that simple,

I think Ken was being perfectly honest and had no wrong intentions in helping this contractor.

I'm sorry It offended you Ken, Your Proffesionalism went out the door on that last post. Please dont take the rules personal. As you see they apply to all.

bigragu714 wanted advice from professionals and the 2 guys that do more decks in one week than most of us do in one year can't share.

where's Jim Foley or Shane Brasseaux? They know of a stripper that I hear is pretty good.

So you guys also know, the e-mail and PM is wide open on pwi. Unlimited and open to use anyway you want.

Shane Brasseaux makes his own wood stripper. I AGREE that it's completely unfair for PROFESSIONAL contractors to share knowledge and information just because they distribute a product. Ken was promoting a product he doesn't even sell. So what are the benefits of this rule, Ron? If what I said was wrong i'm really confused.

No dist can promote anything in a forum not desinated. Period.

dist can share there knowledge, they are welcome too. They simply cannot promote the products.

they can E-mail pm or do anything they like. No promo in the contractor areas. What is so difficult about this?
