Drain Covers

Does anyone use drain covers and do they work well? I have looked at the new pig stuff and it seems Danny had the best idea with taking an old truck bedliner or some other 1/2 thick rubber material and cut them to size for drains. I would like to convert to sump pumps for reclaim in the future to make life much simplier and also allow alot of water to pool up before pumping it in hopes of more evaporation taking place

Thats what we do. Getting ready to do another parking garage next week with the same idea in place again. Here's a picture of a drain we clogged up last year so the water could evaporate some and then we pumped out the rest and let it dry again and then shoveled up the sludge.

We use the rubber mats because they seal with the drain. They were designed for fuel spills so they hold up to all types of chemicals. I have had mine for 4 years and when used properly nothing will get past them.

Heavy duty garbage bags. Throw a damp towel over the grate, and take a garbage bag filled with water to weigh it down. Neither will work effectively by itself. You will need to make sure there are no folds or seams where you are trying to prevent water flow.

Hey Paul, what brand/type/thickness of mat do you use? It looks like you had put up a pic but not showing up any more. Sounds like the ones you use can handle daily use.

This works great as filter. Removes a lot of hydro carbons
