Seasonal changes also bring industry changes. If you're new to exterior cleaning and this will be your first winter, Pay Attention! It’s not too late to start thinking about how business is going to change over the next few months!

October- Days are starting to get shorter, You may not have as many hours a day to get jobs done. Work on your efficiency!! October is a great month for gutter cleaning! Leaves are falling and need to be cleaned. Leaves sitting on roofs also need to be blown off! Leaves left on roofs can start to break down and cause numerous problems. I've found that October is typically a great month for residential cleaning. Customers are back in the swing of things and their budgets have normalized after spending so much money over the summer. They haven't started thinking about Christmas expenses yet so there is typically extra money in the account to pay for cleaning

November- Again, gutter cleaning is great here. It’s not too cold either so you can typically still work full days. Leaves have fallen and need to be cleaned up. Thanksgiving is just around the corner and customers will more than likely be having family and friends come to their home...this means they'll need it clean. This is a great time to push window cleaning also. Shorter days mean less light in the home. Why not get those windows clean and make the most of the daylight we still have?

December- Things will probably start slowing down. Budgets are tight and families are starting to think about Winter travel, christmas gifts, and they aren't going outside as much to see how dirty the exterior of their home is. SH isn’t really effective below 40 degrees so it’s time to start thinking of how you’re going to make up for this. Will you winterize your machine every night? Store it in a heated shop? Or just put it away for the season. Whatever your choice is, you have a couple other options to push in December.

First: Window cleaning. Much like thanksgiving, customers have family come in town for Christmas. Customers are in their homes all day since it's cold outside so this is a great time to clean up their windows.
Second: Christmas Lights. This may not be for everyone but this is a great opportunity to expand your business and diversify your services.
