    Stains on siding

    brown stains on vinyl and aluminum siding around the eaves and under the front porch roof by porch windows and doors. Houses are on a busy street. I've tried rubbing it with pool shcok on a rag and citrus solvent on a rag. Nothing has touched it. Could it be pollution? can it be removed?
