Whatever come out here and be a man…Bring your “black balls” you can find them better in the snow LOL.

Mikey,
It is 5 degrees here at noon. Predictions for the next night or two are 4 below to 9 below. We have decided to abort tonight's job, however I have worked in 4 below. Once I pulled loose an u/b fan and spent 2 hours on the roof rewiring in 4 below temp. To me it is not overly uncomfortable unless there is wind.

Thinking about turning the stove heat on tonight-30-35-how do your get that little degree mark?. We on the left side seldom use it sorry.:)

Hello Mikey,

It has been several years ago that we worked when it was -15 and the wind chill was -50!

Wasn't a kitchen, we were thawing out a truck scale at the local coal mine.

Merry Christmas,

Dave Olson

Mikey,
I know what you mean about the ladder - even slight overspray will cause it to be unclimbable. I always carry a ziplock bag with rock salt to drop down on the rungs - that always works. Usually we will reschedule outside ladder jobs and do only those with inside access on nights like this.

At least 70 degrees every day (a few days ago it was 88) and I am still wearing shorts every day.
The thermometer this morning did say 36....I might need a jacket for an hour or so.

We are very fortunate to not have to deal with the things you folks do.
I'd probably die - or maybe have two different sets of prices. "Winter rates" and "summer rates"! :D

Chris

Winter and summer rates-I like the sound of it! Tell Matt about the new plan.

Chris,
I don't know if you are all that fortunate. I find it easy to don a heavy jacket to protect against cold. It is less cumbersome than a gas mask to protect against smog! Don't minimize the smog - can't fool me - I was born and raised in Burbank.

Richard,

I know cold - I'm from NYC.
I also lived in Denver as a little kid.
I have been spoiled by Southern California.
It is a difficult thing to have to put a jacket on.
Anything below 50 degrees is unacceptable :D
I have gotten used to the smog I guess. Sometimes you forget it is there.
These clear cold winter days are nice and the smog is minimal.

There has been a lot of rain....The freeways have been full of accidents and it is been difficult to get around. Lately I have been thinking of coming up with "rain rates".

I was training a new guy a couple of days ago, we are on the roof and it's near zero, and I'm trying to be patient and let him figure it out, while at the same time keep things moving along, well it gets cold just standing around watching so I went downstairs, I wasn't there for 5 minutes, and here he comes, he sat the gun down thinking he was allowing the chems to work, and when he got back to the gun it was frozen, so I got it going again for him, had to drop it down and run water over it in the sink, he goes back up and he isn't there ten minutes till he lets it happen again. We’ll he gets done finally an hour after he should have "patience, patience, patience” and I haven’t seen him since, some people are just too soft.

Chris it sounds like you once knew cold, Me thinks maybe you have forgotten

I think Southern California got to 11 degrees below 50 once.

I no longer know cold. I can admit it. I am a lightweight.
I cannot even imagine doing KEC in cold weather.
Shorts everyday for me in CA! :D

Shorts every day? You better keep your winter clothes - I can remember when it snowed heavily in Burbank (OK it was 1952).

STILL CLEANING IN THESE 5 DEGREE DAYS , BUT STAYING OFF THE PITCHED ROOFS
I FELL ABOUT 13 - 14 YEARS AGO ......JUST ONCE IS ALL IT TOOK
