Adding bleach to house wash soap

I went over to the local pool supply and inquired about their chlorine. They indicated that it was 12% hypochlorite, while household bleach only contains 2-3%...My question is how would I go about diluting the product from the pool supply, which comes in 2 gallon jugs?

Household bleach is between 5-6%.You dilute it with water 50/50.When I used it I downstreamed it straight out of a bucket with soap mixed in.Let the machine mix it in your inductor.

JC, some of the household bleach sold now is 2 or 3 percent.

Andy, just like JC said, mix the 12% 50/50 with water, add whatever soap you like, and downstream it.

All store bought bleach around here is 3% unless you buy ultra bleach , which is 6%. Or so my wife tells me

I don't usually pay attention either. When my wife needs bleach I break out the drum pump.
I noticed because I went to the grocery store with her one time and noticed a big display of gallon and a half jugs really cheap. I found out why when I looked at the label.

Andy, What are you applying with? A PW or a dedicated pump? And what are you doing, house wash or roof? Also, bying 12% in 2 gallon jugs, you are going to waay over pay for it. I am pretty sure there is a Univar close by you. Google search Univar, and find there nearest one to you.

I am going to downstream it. I have a white vinyl siding house to wash. The chlorine is about $5.00 every refill from the pool supply. You rent their yellow jugs for a one time fee of $11.00. I suspect that I would only add 1/2 of a gallon to the household wash, which I purchased from the PW supplier in a 5-gallon bucket.

Also, they wanted me to clean their deck, which was left natural. I was going to use the same mix in a pump spray and then wash each board one at a time. Rails seem a bit interesting. Any comments?

Andy, that sounds a lot like a Pinch a penny pool supply place to me. Trust me, your paying too much. Listen to Scott and try to find a univar or another supplier. Heck, my 12.5% just went up about 2 months ago but I'm still only paying $1.09 per gal.

Andy, try AAA pools on Mercer University. They sell it in 2.5 gal containers for $5.00.

Always check around, there are usually places in the larger cities, usually hard to find in the phone book but sometimes an online search will do it.

Sometimes they make weekly runs into the other cities and towns, give them a call. The stuff at the stores......you never know how old it is and a lot of us have been burned with old product that is very weak and either barely worked or did not work at all.

You are absolutely correct about shelf life...I would hate to wash and find out that algae, mildew and mold is stuck on the siding.

Andy, if you ever get up in the north ATL area, take 85N to Beaver Ruin exit.
Go east for about 2 miles. On the right after the beer plant, you will see a big blue sign at eye level marked Ga. Chemical ( or google the address).

1.50 approx for a Gal. for 12.5 SH ask for Mark.

Or a little further N on 85 ( 35 mi. N of ATL is SunBrite) in Lawrenceville off of Pike rd. Ask for Tracy they have really good rates for 12.5 as well. Just a little farther to travel. Bring a large drum 15,30,55 and stock up. Blue or black drums will hold a longer shelf life than white or clear drums.

Buying bulk is much cheaper than a pool supply co. or off of the shelf.
