Brick wall for bid

Hello,

I have the chance to bid on cleaning this brick wall. I think it is limestone but not sure. The wall has quite a bit of mold on it and I don't want to create a problem by using the wrong chemical or recipe. Any help will be appreciated.

Here are some pic's of the wall.

Thanks

Thats pretty much what a friend of mine said. I appreciate ya. How many sq.ft will 5 gallons of chem cover approximately using an x-jet. And if I do use an x-jet do I still need to add water to the mix.

Thanks

Is clorox at the supermart 12% clorine? or do I need shop some where else for this item.

No i don't beleive the wall has been sealed. The wall is about two years old. What should it be sealed with? Any recomendations. And why do you say it will do nothing to the wall. I think it will clean it but the stains may reapear in a short time.

oops.. mis read your post. No I don't think it has been sealed at all. Too new!

I should re state what I said. If the wall was sealed incorrectly, you will have problems. I have run into a few stone walls/buildings that have been sealed without being cleaned. If this happened, when you wash no dirt will be removed. you would first have to strip the sealant off, then clean. this would double, and sometimes triple the original price. Do a test spot and ask the owner if it was ever sealed and let them know if it was the price differences. Prosoco makes great products for what you are doing. a housewash won't do anything in comparison to what a limestone restorer will do.

Place a call to the Prosoco sales rep for this area should here from him tomorrow.

Thanks

David,
Yes still ad water if you use your xjet.To give an idea of coverage for 5 gallons,we use 7 to 10 gallons to wash a one story 2000 to 2200 sq ft house.

My suggestion for cleaning comes from what I see in the pics.I assumed no sealer because of the mold growth.A chlorine based housewash would more than take care of the problem.
I do agree if the wall has been sealed previously there is a lot more work involved.Prosoco has great products but some customers get up in arms when they see what the chemical charge is for a basic wash, let alone the cost of specialty chemicals.

Good point Squirtgun, customer always get upset when they have to pay to do a job right, don't they.

Well I don't think the wall has been sealed and I'll make note of that on the work order they must sign if we get the job.

Using a house wash type mix I can bid as low as .12¢ a sqft. I have no idea what the Prosoco products would cost but, I'll be finding out tomorrow.

Do you think the house wash will do the job completely. It looks like its just mold/mildew stains.

At this point, the best thing you could do would be a test patch..........see for yourself what your regular mix is going to do.

This job is a great opportunity for you to upsell them on sealing the wall. Once you have it clean, it will be easy to seal..........and probably earn you some good money if they go for it.

Mike, good to hear from you. Yes very good point. I have absolutely no experience with sealing. Besides the sealer what type and or brand is good for that type of work.

Should I sell them on sealing it if they are talking about having it done once a year. How many years will the sealer prevent the wal from becoming moldie again.

I have little experience with sealing anything besides decks. Perhaps others can chime in here?

The sealer probably wouldnt prevent the mold...........but make it easier to clean and less likely to permanently stain the wall.
