calcium deposits

Where is the tile? In the pool or around the perimeter? What is the tile made of?

It is around the inside of the pool. Its about 4inches tall, and starts about 2 inches down. So all in all, the bottom of the tile is 6 inches down from the edge. And it is blue glazed ceramic I think.

Scott, I was asked to remove deposits from a hot tub last year. I put lime away and some water in a squirt bottle and applied it to the affected areas. I washed the house and a patio and did the hot tub last. The Lime away had melted away almost all the deposits around the tub. All I had to do was a rinse and quick wipe with a towel to be sure it was all off. It worked good and was an inexpensive way to remove it. Customer was happy! Hope this helps...:)

Your probably going to need some type of acidic cleaner to break down the staining. Be careful because some products will strip the glaze off the surface. Is there water in the pool? I would think access is going to be the biggest problem. Is it going to pay enough to make it worth while?

Actually, it is for a family member. They have already tried muratic aacid, and some other chemicals like lime away. But nothing has even come close to working. I guess tey'll just have to scrape it all of. Thanks for the input

I know a guy here who does some pool resurfacing. A lot of times they have to sandblast it off.

Soda blasting will take it off-but the chem. pool balance will be the trade off. I would try soda buy hand-plus try Clorox (spray bottle).

If you have or want a reason to get a wet sand injector try glass beads or get an abrasive manufacture to recommend a media then sump it out from the bottom of the pool to a strainer while you're blasting.

Get klenztone (get the strongest one, I think there's 3) put it in some kind of sprayer. Get a restaurant size roll of plastic wrapand cover the tile while you spray (it will stick on). Make sure there's no dry spots. Periodically check areas and see if they're dissolved. Lift the plastic and respray as needed, it won't take a lot. I have no idea what this does to the pool water.
