Do places like lowes and home depot carry chlorine?

The closest thing you'll find at these type of stores is 6%. I think I've seen "Clorox Outdoors" at Lowes before. I'm not sure but I believe it's only 6%. If you're looking for 12.5% you'll have to find a chemical supply. Some swimming pool supply companies have it on hand. A long time ago I used to buy it from Culligan. But it was expensive. Buying in large volume is by far cheaper if you're planning on using it all in the near future. I now purchase 53 gal. drums from Univar. They are nationwide so you may want to do a search for them near you. If you're gonna buy 6% from a box store go to Wal-Mart.

Paint stores usually carry 6% for commercial use. Pricing may be cheaper than name brand stuff at the grocery store. Your best bet is to find some 12% at a commercial supply house. Look for janitorial supply places near you. They will probably have 12% but it may be expensive.

Chlorine

I just purchased 70-gallons today at a local pool supply for $74.00. Hugh

i get in Birmingham for 82.00 for 55 gallons and its is as fresh as you can get

Man, I wish I could get it that cheap. I pay $200.00 for 53 gal. from Univar here in Central PA. You can almost three barrels for what I pay for one. You should feel fortunate with that price, at least compared to mine. Almost worth hiring a guy with a truck and hazmat license to make the trip. 10 barrels for under a $1000.00.

Icalled the local pool company here and they said everything they have is for large bodies of water and would be too strong for pressure washing. Couldnt i dillute it down to 12%

I doubt a pool company has chlorine stronger than 12%.

O.K. I have located some liquid chlorine now and want to mix up 55 gallons but I read somewhere that sodium hypochlorite breaks down in 30 days and should be used before then. Is this true because i dont want to mix more than I will use within a 30 day period if it will lose its strength.

yep, just check the lable on the back of the bleach bottle in the closet, 6%

I am paying $2.50/gal bulk rate and it hurts. That's from pool supply, next closest thing is 80 miles away @ $2.16

I did actually find a place here that can get it in 55ers but its alot more than that.
