Please vote as to the results you get from your direct mail campaigns. What type of media are you using (post card,tri-fold brochure etc.) and are you targetting a certain demographic or doing a saturation mailing.

I've yet to do a postcard campaign, the word I get from fellow greasers (that will even speak to me) is the rate of return on postcards (KEC) has been very low to no return at all.

Jason you should see about a 1% call back.......That's if its professionally made. If it is not you could see a big 0.........Just think if you received a homemade flyer, postcard or door hanger would you call. I personally would not. If you need a designer look up Jon at www.modernwebstudios.com
He does all my design work.

I send out at least 100 post cards per month I usually get a minimum of 10 calls. I make my own post cards and I try to make it questionable so I at least get calls asking questions about the post card then I can lay on the sales talk. I have them professionally printed though. I can usually land one or two new customers per month. Oh and i'm, 100% commercial.

we are doing them

I have been doing bulk mailing and just did my first direct mailing campaign. I love it. I sent out 190 mailings and promised in the letter that I would call at the beginning of this month. Of the 190, I got 4 calls within the first week. I have called 92 of them back and of the 92, I have had 14 commit to sit down with me or allow me to schedule a demo. I closed 2 yesterday (one I met with that I followed back up with and one that called me the first business day after the mailing went out).

I love the direct mailing, however, with the round that I am doing, it is a year long, or more process. That is fine with the results that I have seen so far.

Again, as a very wise man (Ron Musgraves :)) has said time and time again, no one thing works, it is a combination of multiple things.

We do postcards every month. For the last 3 years it has runa consistent 1% return on them, however we do KEC exclusive work and the cards have a added benifit in that they are held for months and in a few cases over a year on thier wall in the office and we get a call down the road on them.
I make it a point no matter how the inital call is going to ask how they found out about us. it is amazing how some come to you.

Now, recently.... Since about nov 2008 we have had almost no return on our postcards. I belive the market and timing are just conspiring to keep owners from doing work.

Bulk mailing lists can be one of the most cost effective methods of undergoing a marketing campaign. These lists can take the form of traditional direct mailing lists and/or email lists. The most important feature of bulk mailing lists is accuracy.

The cost per acquisition is very important as it helps you to determine whether getting new leads for your business is worth the costs it's going to take to generate them.

Yes, cost always plays an important role in business. So, set your goal very carefully and analyze all the factors that help to increase your clients.
