Don't fall for the temptation

Capitalism is about finding a way to do something that others are willing to pay you for and doing it. In a capitalistic society the winners in business are those who find a way to do something better, faster and cheaper than the competition.

Using the government to run away competition is the reason the government is corrupt now. First the the city council helps eliminate the competition, then they work for the company they eliminated the competition for. It's sickening.

I have a lot of respect for Jim Gamble. Jim is adapting to California lunacy. Once Jim steps across the line and jumps in, pretending to be "looking out for the people of California" and eliminates competition through government legislation he will lose my respect. I don't think that will ever happen.

Don't fall for the temptation to encourage more restrictions to limit your competition. Even hacks have to eat. Have some compassion and expand your business based on doing the job better, faster and cheaper.

Just the same I really want to be on the good side of that situation. When you have 'water police' doing your marketing for you ... Practically speaking it only makes sense to play your best on the field your stuck with. I want the inspector to just wave at me when he goes by, I want to be the 'good' guy. I want to have the greenest, cleanest, crunchiest technology. But watching whats not right and not doing anything about it is something we all have to answer for if we let it happen.

By the way I think you can just say 'freedom'. Capatalism is just the economic system of freedom.

Tom, don't get me wrong. I'm all for working with what the government throws at you. I use that "green" talk all the time because that's what the customer wants to hear. If they believe it's "green" to do this or that, that's ok with me.

Let me give you an example of what I'm talking about. Say you're a strip club owner in the county. You go and lobby the city to make lap dances illegal in the City limits. This puts all the strip clubs in the city limits at a severe disadvantage and brings all the business straight to your door. Then, for good measure you hire one of the city councilmen as a "consultant" within 2 days of leaving office and pay them $280k per year.

It happened right here.

Some say this is shrewd business. I say that is the mark of a f'n scumbag p.o.s. who is a complete failure otherwise. A real man will beat the competition on a fair playing field.

Apologies in advance for the foul language abbreviations. This is just a sore point with me seeing it ruin our communities and our country.

It is sad when that happens, it happens all over the place.

It has happened with suppliers, org's, and used-to-be well respected people in our industry too, it is sad.

If you look around, do some searching back 2-5years ago, you can see/read about it. I won't go into details here but it happens in every industry.

Sometimes later on, everyone finds out and see how crooked they were and what kind of class they belong to. Sometimes they get what's coming to them.
